Lovestruck Bubble Bar from Lush

lovestruck-bubble-barThe Lovestruck Bubble Bar from Lush’s 2017 Valentine’s line is most certainly a head turner. Its design is inspired by the heart-eyed iPhone emoji, (Unless you have been living under a rock) I’m sure you knew that already though…

Out of the three Valentine bubble bars of 2017, Lovestruck, Unicorn Horn and Ladybird it is unquestionably the most vibrant in colour.

Before I had read what ingredients Lovestruck had, I imagined it would be a similar scent to one of the bubble bars that were an Easter release last year, Tweet. Described as a bubble bar that is ‘refreshing and citrusy,’ I couldn’t wait to get it in the bath!

The first thing I noticed about the Lovestruck  bubble bar was its size. It’s not as big as a Brightside or Comforter, but it’s quite close. If you managed to get ahold of a Down the Rabbit bubble bar last year I’d say it’s a similar size to that although to me it feels more stocky.

The next thing that I noticed was that Lovestruck’s scent was the polar opposite of what I had expected it to be. The citrus element was barely noticeable, all I could really smell was the geranium oil in it.

In a way it reminded me of the Ladybird bubble bar a little but, with a splash of bitter lemon instead of the peppermint. I really wasn’t sure on its scent but I felt the same way about the Ladybird bubble bar last year so decided to give it a go.

A little of this bubble bar goes a long way, the smallest amount created mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles, the water was also silky smooth. It left my skin soft and hydrated. Which is everything I love in a bubble bar.

The water underneath the blanket of bubbles was also a beautiful and summery yellow. Unfortunately the scent seemed to intensify as the bath ran, this is fairly normal for a bubble bar from Lush and it isn’t a bad thing, unless you do not like the bubble bars scent…

I really couldn’t get on with the scent. Everything else about the bubble bar was however, perfect. For me the scent of a Lush product is really important to me so I won’t be getting the Lovestruck bubble bar again.

I feel its scent is a lot like the Ladybird bubble bar purely because of the strength of the geranium oils scent in both. The peppermint in Ladybird seems to mask the geranium oil to a point that I can like it, the lemon in Lovestruck however doesn’t cut it in the same way for my nose.

Personally I would have liked the Lovestruck bubble bar to not be packed with geranium oil as the Ladybird bubble bar has it in already, with them being in the same range I think I’d have preferred it if two products did not share such a dominantly scented ingredient. It’s a jackpot if you like the said scent. If you don’t however get on with it, it is quite the loss.

Geranium just isn’t a Valentine’s scent to me. By all means the Ladybird and Lovestruck bubble bars are totally different. Lovestruck has lemon in it while Ladybird has peppermint, it’s just the one mutual ingredient of geranium oil that trumps me.

It’s very rare for me to dislike a Lush product but Lovestruck sadly just wasn’t for me. I am however glad I tried it as it left my skin feeling fabulous and it is a really cute bubble bar.

I’m a top Lush geek and really enjoyed getting photos of it, it photographs brilliantly and with its cute and wacky, bold colours I can still see it being very popular for those that don’t mind its scent.

Cupid Bath Bomb from Lush

Cupid Bath Bomb.pngAs soon as I heard about Lush’s new Cupid Bath Bomb I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Nothing gets me more excited than when Lush Cosmetics bring out a brand new bath bomb!

The Cupid Bath Bomb is 2 shades of pink, reflecting the Valentine’s period perfectly. Designed as an arrowed heart, Cupid is the first word that comes to mind when you see it.

The arrow is a beautiful hot pink while the heart is a lighter pink. Yes the Cupid bath bomb is quite a small bath bomb in comparison to the Fizzbanger or Intergalactic but bath bombs don’t have to be big to be good.

Lush products are full of surprises so I always have an open mind, especially with the bath bombs. Just look how people reacted to the Metamorphosis bath bomb, everyone changed their mind on it once they see what it could do once in the water…

The Cupid bath bomb shares its scent with the Razzle Dazzle bath oil. It contains bergamot, rose and violet leaf absolute.

The ingredient that got me most excited however was the fresh raspberry juice. The raspberry scent in Cupid is the most prominent of the ingredients, it reminds me of the petits filous yoghurts that I used to have in my lunchbox when I was a kid.

As soon as the Cupid bath bomb hits the water pink fizz shoots out of it, at this point I could really smell the violet leaf absolute as well as the raspberry, anything violet like helps me unwind so I can never, ever get enough of it. I find violet leaf particularly helpful for tension, it is also my go to ingredient when I have a migraine brewing. I just can’t get enough of this bath bombs scent!

Cupid is a very slow fizzer and creates the most beautiful light pink, white and ever so slightly darker pink swirls on the top of your bath water. I wasn’t expecting much bath art from it but it did create a small amount that was worthy of a photograph or two.

I couldn’t believe how such a small bath bomb had, had such an effect on how the bath water felt on my skin. Once Cupid has fully dissolved you are left with silky smooth, light pink bath water.

The bath bombs scent stayed with me through out the bath. Once you’re out, the scent is very subtle on your skin, I could still detect it long after getting out of the tub.

I will most certainly be stocking up on the Cupid bath bomb before Valentine’s 2017 is over.

So far I have tried it with Lush’s Tender is the Night massage bar . This combination was so much better than I expected. Another product I can’t wait to pair Cupid with is the Mumkin bubble bar.

Hello raspberry heaven!

Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly from Lush

Papa Noel Face Wash Jelly.pngWhen I first see that Lush Cosmetics had created a Face Wash Jelly I was a little apprehensive. Don’t get me wrong, I trust Lush and all of their ideas completely, it just took me a bit of time to get my head around.

When it comes to my face I am always wary, I have the craziest skin that can never make its mind up. One day it can be crying out for hydration, the next I’m spotty and then sometimes it can also be super greasy and then the vicious circle begins again.

Declaring that my skin is the ‘combination’ type is the understatement of the century, it’s indecisive, annoying and a nightmare to keep on top of.

The first time that I actually see the Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly was at the Lush Creative Showcase 2016. I was still uncertain at the thought of trying it, I had however had the very same feelings before I tried Lush’s shower jellies, with this at the back of my mind, I didn’t hesitate to pick up a pot. After all, it was such an interesting and new concept that I couldn’t not pick one up, even if it was just for the novelty factor…

15697206_1896546760574543_1018953155038170496_n

As you can see from the photograph above Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly is in fact a mask of some sorts. Some people have chopped theirs up into pieces using a chunk a time, I have however left mine all together – for now anyway.

It has a refreshing citrus scent although it’s not quite as tangy as the likes of the Snowman Shower Jelly. I am a huge fan of all things citrus and although Papa Noël is by all means a citrus scent it’s slightly more delicate than I am used to from Lush. This could however be a  positive point. After all, the product is for your face so, (no pun intended) the less in your face the scent is, the better.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first used this face wash. It lathered up within seconds and left my face feeling well cleansed, brighter and smoother. I found that it was really good at clearing out my most troublesome and stubborn pores too.

What has also impressed me is how long it has lasted. I have used it several times now and there doesn’t appear to be any signs of it getting any smaller. One of the things that won me over with the shower jellies is their staying power. Papa Noël, is just as I had originally described my first shower jelly Santa’s Belly, almost indestructible!

15697181_1896550883907464_214709144245351098_n

I am very, very surprised at how well I got on with this brand new face wash jelly. I wasn’t expecting very much at all, I thought it was just a novelty product that would be a prop for a good selfie or two.

After I have used it my face feels really clean, it seems to have helped the condition of my skin too, since using it I still get the odd dry patch but it seems to keep any excess oil at bay throughout the whole day.

As I have said, I am really fussy when it comes to products for my face and I really wasn’t expecting such positive results from the Papa Noël face wash jelly. I am sorry Lush, I underestimated you again and by now I really, really should know better…

One thing I would like to add to this review is that I wouldn’t recommend using Papa Noël every day, this is however how I feel about all cosmetic products. I find that alternating cosmetic products keeps your skin on its toes. There’s nothing worse than a product that works great for you but because you use it so often your skin begins to get so used to it that it doesn’t do such a great job anymore.

Overall I am thoroughly impressed, when it comes down to skin care it’s near on impossible for me to be so impressed. I am no longer apprehensive in regards to further releases of Lush face wash jellies, I can’t wait to see if Lush have any more on the horizon?
