Calacas Shower Gel from Lush

Calacas Shower Gel.png

I believe that the Calacas Shower Gel was my very first shower gel purchased via the Lush Kitchen, why I have left it so long to review it is beyond me, as I LOVE the stuff, maybe even more than I do my husband.

I know I throw the love word around a lot but Calacas is hands down one of my favourite Lush scents ever. If I hadn’t have ordered this shower gel back in the day I don’t think I’d have even got so into Lush. It’s divine. The Calacas scent is refreshing, uplifting and zingy. Lush have carefully combined oil of lime, neroli, cooling aloe vera and olibanum to make the most gorgeous and energising bath time treat in shower gel form.

If you are in need of a boost, a quick shower with the Calacas shower gel will reinvigorate both your mind and body. It’s fruity but not like anything else you’ve tried before, some people describe it as smelling like fruit pastille sweets, I can see where they are coming from but it is so much better than that. I am hoping that they decide to release the Calacas shower gel as a store product this Halloween, it has only been available in the Lush Kitchen on occasion for the last few years and I just don’t understand why something so beautiful isn’t readily available in stores. I’d love to see it as full time stock but even if they release it just for the Halloween period, that would make me a very happy Lushie.

Another wonderful thing about the Calacas shower gel is how it looks, it has actually been available in the past as several different shades, red, green and a yellowish orange. For the purpose of this blog post I have included pictures of the orange version.

I have never seen a shower gel like it, depending on how the sun catches it, it can look so many shades of orange, sometimes I even get a glimpse of it and think it is glowing. Consistency wise the Calacas shower gel is quite thick, I’d compare it to the likes of the Plum Rain shower gel which happens to be another fruity shower gel that I cannot get enough of.

Calacas lathers up well, a little of it also goes a very long way which is great considering its consistency and even better when you take into account how rare it is. I was glad to see that for Halloween 2016 Lush decided to bring out a bath bomb with the Calacas scent called the Monsters’ Ball. I have my fingers crossed that this bath bomb returns again as the Calacas scent needs to be enjoyed by everyone! it is one of those scents that work brilliantly in any format.

My favourite thing about the Calacas shower gel is how long its scent stays with you after use. Much like the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream I can still smell it on my skin hours and hours after using it in the shower. I also have very fine hair and can get away with using Calacas shower gel as a shampoo every now and again.

I am currently almost out of my latest batch of Calacas shower gel so if Lush aren’t bringing it out as a staple product for Halloween 2017 then I hope they bring it out in the Lush Kitchen again very, very soon. It’s a shower gel a Lushie should never be without!

Rose Jam Shower Gel from Lush

rose-jam-shower-gel

Rose Jam shower gel is a golden oldie. It returns year in, year out and its scent can be found in a vast number of Lush’s best selling products.

The Rose Jam scent was the first scent I came across in Lush that I realised also featured in a number of their other products…

The Rose Jam shower gels scent also features in the Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar, Pearl massage bar and the Rose Jam bubbleroon. Those 3 products are currently available all year through so if you want to try out the scent before you invest in a shower gel, go give them a sniff. I recommend all 3 and speak very highly of them all.
Rose Jam Shower Gel EXTRA.pngRose Jam shower gel is a deep red. It reminds me of raspberry jam although its shade of red is a little lighter. I actually grew to love the scent through a Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar. The name ‘Rose Jam’ initially put me off as I ignorantly associated rose scents with older people. I turned my nose up at the bubbleroon without even giving it a chance. The first time that Rose Jam shower gel became available to me I however ordered a 100g bottle as I really liked the Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar.

Once it was in my hands I instantly regretted ordering the smallest size, 100g of this beautiful shower gel is not enough and it will never be enough. Always buy more rather than less.

Although Rose Jam is a floral rose scent, it also has other depths making it more desirable to me. Alongside the rose and argan oil there is a slight hint of musky-sweet vanilla mixed with lemon giving it a sweet and zingy edge.rosejammixIt is quite a thick gel, (the perfect consistency in my eyes) and it lathers up well, the smallest amount of it goes a long way and I often use it as a shampoo as well as, as a shower gel.

My boyfriend loves it just as much as me which is a pain in the bum as it is limited edition.

If you want to try it get some now as it won’t be around after Christmas.

The scent stays with you all day after using it. If I had the Rose Jam liquid perfume I’d spray it in my hair too, spreading the Rose Jam scent that little bit more as I think it’s beautiful. It compliments absolutely everyone no matter the occasion.

Fairy Ring Soap from Lush

At the Lush Creative Showcase I picked up the Mistletoe bath bomb and recognised the scent straight away. I squealed at one of the sales assistants, ‘SILKY UNDERWEAR!’ my boyfriend didn’t have a clue as to what I meant but thankfully the sales assistant did.

One of my favourite things about Lush is that you can enjoy their carefully crafted scents in lots of different formats.

The release of the Mistletoe bath bomb has led me into falling back in love with the silky underwear scent. When I see that the Lush Kitchen menu had Fairy Ring Soap, which shares the same scent too, I couldn’t stop myself from ordering a block.

The Fairy Ring soap contains a beautiful combination of yummy ingredients, jasmine, ylang ylang and vetivert oil. Mixed together they give the soap a sweet and musky scent that I can never get enough of.

There aren’t as many products in the silky underwear scent family as I’d like. I hope that the Lush Kitchen bring some of the retro products back soon and that in time its family will grow.

All of the Lush soaps that I have tried seem to last forever. When it came down to using the Fairy Ring soap I found that it lathered up very quickly and left my skin in a surprisingly soft and hydrated condition, this didn’t last very long though, my skin dried up after about half and hour.

This was easily fixed by slapping on some body lotion. I just wish that Lush had a body lotion with the same scent, using something with a different scent sometimes works really well, I however don’t always want to mix scents.

I’d literally buy several thousand litres of it if it was made into a body lotion. There are so many products that I wish had body lotion equivalents but this scent in particular I’d be very interested in.
