American Cream Shower Gel from Lush

American Cream Shower Gel

The American Cream Shower Gel first became available as a limited edition, Lush Kitchen exclusive last year (2018).

I’m not a huge fan of the American Cream scent, I have tried the hair conditioner equivalent but it isn’t suited to my hair as it’s quite a heavy product. Apart from the conditioner I hadn’t really ever used anything else from its scent family until I got this shower gel.

Being honest as always, the  American Cream scent has always reminded me of one of those car-air-fresheners making it a fragrance that hasn’t ever really appealed to me. I decided to however give the American Cream shower gel a go as it’s ridiculously popular within the Lush community.

While I still believe that the American Cream scent is one of Lush’s most overrated scent families it isn’t unpleasant. As I said earlier, the American Cream scent is hugely popular within the Lush community and the shower gel went down a storm when it was first released by the Lush Kitchen in 2018. It was so well received by the community that Lush decided to bring it back as a part of their 2019 Valentine’s Day line.

The American Cream shower gel is a dusty shade of pink and as shower gels go is actually the perfect consistency, not to thick and not too thin. Containing vanilla, lavender and fresh strawberry juice American Cream has a gentle, fruity-fresh fragrance, many describe it as smelling just like fresh strawberries and cream. I can see what they mean but to me it’s still smells a little too artificial for my liking.

As I said above, I actually really like the consistency of the American Cream shower gel, it takes a little longer than I’m used to, to work up a good lather but once it gets going it’s an excellent shower gel. A little goes quite a long way and it leaves my skin clean, smooth and hydrated too.

At the time of writing this review the American Cream scent still isn’t a favourite of mine BUT it’s a light enough fragrance for me to use every now and again. That’s not to say that one day I could have a complete change of heart; Before now many Lush scents have grown on me overtime. The, The Comforter shower creams scent being one of them!

Although I wouldn’t personally go out of my way to get another bottle of the American Cream shower gel I can appreciate why it is so popular.

Now that the Mother’s Day and Easter 2019 ranges have been released I wanted to mention how disappointed I am to not see any other shower gels in either line. Not great if you’re on the fence about American Cream shower gel like me, I’d have loved a couple more shower gels to choose from.

The Comforter Bath Bomb from Lush

the comforter bath bomb

Lush’s Winter 2018 line included a brand new version of the Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb, it now shares its scent with the, The Comforter bubble bar instead of the Twilight bath bomb.

I was therefore very surprised to see that Lush had created another bath bomb with the, The Comforter scent as a part of their November 2018, 12 community bath bomb favourites.

This is in no way a complaint, although I wasn’t at all sure in regards to Lush changing  the Luxury Lush Pud‘s scent. After I had, had a chance to use it, I realised how good the Comforter scent was in a bath bomb format! 😍

The possibility of having yet another bath bomb with the Comforter scent made me very, very happy. If you’re not familiar with the Comforter scent I would describe it as a blackcurrant lovers heaven.

The Comforter bath bomb contains mood brightening bergamot, cypress and cassis oil. This well thought out blend of ingredients gives the bath bomb a very distinctive blackcurrant fragrance.

The Comforter scent is often compared to getting a big and very loving hug and that’s exactly how I feel when I am submerged in Comforter scented bath water!

As soon as the Comforter bath bomb hits your bath water an explosion of pink bubbles fizzes out of it. Within just a few seconds of it entering your bath, the water becomes silky smooth while slowly turning a deep, dark shade of pink.

Not only do you benefit from this bath bombs beautiful and very berrylicious scent, but hours and hours after using it, you also have soft, smooth and gloriously hydrated skin too. Even the day after my skin still feels fabulous.

The Comforter bath bomb was a very slow fizzer, it danced around the waters surface for a good 10 minutes. Pink and white bubbles fizzled out of it while the bath bombs scent filled my bathroom.

The only negative thing I can mention about this bath bomb is the fact that a hard white chunk of it was still at the bottom of my bath when it was time to get out, it just wouldn’t dissolve. Not a huge issue really but I felt it was worth a mention.

Overall I was however very, very impressed with the, The Comforter bath bomb. Lush discontinued the Comforter shower cream a good few years ago now and using this bath bomb made me realise just how much I actually miss it.

Although at the time of writing this review the, The Comforter bath bomb is no longer available in the UK (it was a one off Lush Kitchen UK exclusive last November) it is available to purchase at the new Lush Harajuku store in Japan.

There are rumours that some of the bath bombs from the Harajuku store may be available to purchase elsewhere very soon, nothing has however been officially announced at the time of writing this review.

We will just have to keep our fingers crossed that the rumour is true and that the, The Comforter bath bomb will become readily available elsewhere in the not so distant future! 🤞

Adam’s Apple Mouthwash Tabs from Lush

Adam's Apple Mouthwash Tabs.png

The Mouthwash tabs are still relatively new to Lush, they first made an appearance back in August 2016 and came in 3 different flavours.

For a long time the 3 original flavours were the only ones available but fast forward to now and several other mouthwash tabs have been created and some of them released. Sticking with their fruity theme, this years Valentine’s range included a brand new flavour of mouthwash tabs, Adam’s Apple.

When I first heard of the Adam’s Apple Mouthwash Tabs I couldn’t help but wonder if its flavour and scent would be just like the fragrance of one of my all time favourite products the So White bath bomb. Although I was a little disappointed that this wasn’t the case Adam’s Apple did still have a very pleasant scent.

Directions on how to use a Lush mouthwash tab are as follows; ‘After brushing your teeth, pop one tab into the mouth and take a sip of water to start the fizz. Nibble and swish before spitting out. They can also be used throughout the day whenever you fancy a bit of oral refreshment.’

All you need is one tab and a small swig of water to aid you in the quest of quick and easy oral refreshment. Freshening ones breath in-between morning and nightly brushing, has never been so easy. – I’d like to report that Adam’s Apple’s flavour was just as pleasant as its scent. There is something about its scents wetness that reminds me ever so slightly of the Once Upon A Time body lotion.

For me it tastes like super ripe, lemony, fresh and juicy pear; It actually contains spearmint, Sicilian lemon and lime oil too. Although in taste I cannot detect the spearmint I do pick it up in its scent somewhat. When I made my mum sniff it to help me describe it she however said that all she could smell was the spearmint… 🤷🏼‍♀️

It took me a little while to get my head around an oral product not being just minty as most toothpastes and mouthwashes available from companies such as Oral B or Colgate are either peppermint or spearmint only. I however warmed to Adam’s Apple after a few uses and it left my mouth fruity fresh.

While Adam’s Apple is not my favourite of the Lush mouthwash tabs flavour wise, they do, do a really good job at refreshing your mouth. It’s nice to have something so different from the masses on offer.

I can’t wait for Lush to release even more mouthwash tabs. There were several at the 2018 showcase on display (but not available to purchase) that I’d really like to get my hands on in the not so distant future!
