NEW Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb from Lush

shoot-for-the-stars-bath-bomb-new

Being honest as always I was completely flabbergasted and totally speechless when I see that the much loved Shoot for the Stars bath bomb had, had a complete make over.

The makeover wasn’t even a slight tweak here and there, the new Shoot for the Stars bath bomb is in all intents and purposes a brand new bath bomb.

Apart from its scent the new version of Shoot for the Stars is completely unrecognisable.

Both designs are undeniably star orientated but until I see the name of the new version I wasn’t at all aware that it was in fact the same bath bomb reinvented.

Some Lushie’s (me especially) do not bode well to such drastic changes, I however always trust Lush’s decisions and wanted to give the new version a go.

The new bath bomb is blue all over and decorated with 3 visible golden stars. It wasn’t apparent to me until I had actually used the bath bomb that the golden stars are in fact chunks of bath melt.

The stars are made of a mixture of what I think is cocoa butter and coconut cream, they make Shoot for the Stars one of the most skin-hydrating Lush products I have used to date.

Long term Lush fans will notice that the Yog Nog Bath Bomb much like the retired version of Shoot for the Stars didn’t make a return in this years Lush winter line.

I wasn’t particularly bothered by this as Yog Nog was never a particular favourite of mine, however for those that did like it you will be happy to learn that the new Shoot for the Stars bath bomb is (in my opinion) a combination of both the older Shoot for the Stars and Yog Nog bath bomb.

Shoot for the Stars’ scent is about the only thing that has remained the same when comparing it to the earlier version of it.

The Shoot for the Stars bath bomb comes from the Honey I Washed the Kids scent family. Honey I Washed the Kids is a very sweet and moreish scent, my nose can detect several sweet layers, a soft honey aroma (although honey is not an ingredient in it, making it 100% Vegan) as well as hints of toffee and a subtle smidge of gooey caramel too.

I don’t always get on with the sweet smelling products however the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb isn’t at all sickly and I have grown very fond of it and the Honey I Washed the Kids scent.

As soon as the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb hits the water a fierce fizzing of royal blue bubbles shoot out of it, gradually turning the rest of your bath water into a deep shade of midnight blue.

After a few minutes of it fizzing away I noticed the stars. When I first used it and see the yellow bits bobbing about, I couldn’t help but grab the bath bomb to get a better look at it.

As you can see in the pictures below the new Shoot for the Stars is completely different from anything Lush have brought out before.

The stars at the point of time this photo was taken were no longer a dusty gold colour, it is at this point that I realised that the stars were not part of the bath bomb and were in fact bath melts.

As the bath bomb fizzes away the stars separate, floating to the top of the surface, going off on their own individual journey. There are 6 stars in total.

It is advisable to use the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb in quite a hot bath, this way you get the full benefits of the bath melts, the warmer temperature helps the cocoa butter melt.

Once melted you can see a coating of moisturising oil splodges on the top of your bath water. I couldn’t help but compare the last picture I took below to Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry night. A Shoot for the Stars bath really is a work of art!

When I realised that the stars were in fact bath melts I was a little worried that it would make me and the tub super oily, I was however very pleased to find that I didn’t get out of the bath looking like I’d been bathing in an oil slick. The bath was also fine after a quick hose down.

Once out of the bath my skin looked and felt fabulous, in addition to it feeling so much better it also smelt gorgeous. The scent stayed with me for ages, hours and hours after getting out of the bath I could still smell the sweet toffee scent on my freshly revived super, soft skin.

There are some reasons I prefer the new Shoot for the Stars bath bomb over the older one and vise versa. I enjoy and love both versions although I did find the new version more entertaining to watch in the bath tub. There is just something so interesting about the big butter stars and the way the water looks once the bath bomb has finished.

I have heard a rumour that the new version of Shoot for the Stars will be replacing the recently discontinued bath bomb Honey Bee. If the rumour turns out to be true it will mean that Shoot for the Stars will be available all year through which is very, very exciting. Keep your fingers crossed!

The Christmas Penguin Bubble Bar from Lush

I was so excited when I found out that Lush had decided to bring the, The Christmas Penguin Bubble Bar back this winter. It took a break in winter 2015 but now it’s back and better than ever!

The Christmas Penguin bubble bar shares its scent with my beloved The Olive Branch Shower Gel, I have yet to review it (sorry I’m so slow) but I have however reviewed the Pop in the Bath Bubble Bar. Pop in the Bath is also lucky enough to share the same delicious scent as The Christmas Penguin.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with Lush scent families I am going to attempt to explain them to you, you ready? good… Lush Cosmetics do so much more than mix random essential oils together. They master scents. Once a scent is mastered over a very long period of time (sometimes years) they create an abundance of products that share that mastered scent. This is where the Lush term ‘scent family’ comes from, if a product shares the same scent as another new or old one, it’s a part of that scent family. The Christmas Penguin bubble bar belongs to the, The Olive Branch family. It’s a little confusing at first as they nearly all have different names so don’t feel bad if you’re still finding your Lush-scent-feet!

The Olive Branch scent is one of my favourites of the Lush scents, it has a soft fruity smell that I can never get enough of. It’s a very delicate scent and I think this is why I was first so very drawn to it.img_9855

I have so many The Olive Branch scented products, in the picture above is a solid perfume of it, a Pop in the Bath bubble bar and of course the, The Christmas Penguin bubble bar.

Just one of the Penguin bubble bars can easily see me through 3 generously bubbled, bubble baths.

If you did want to go all out, half of one would make for a very luxurious bubble bath, sometimes a foam party for one is all you want in life, I won’t judge you for using a tiny bit more to make your bath that little, extra bit special!

As soon as you get into a The Christmas Penguin bubble bath you are submerged in a blanket of silky, soft and delicately scented Sicilian lemon, mandarin and sweet bergamot bubbles.  This mixture of essential oils not only give your mood a cheery citrus boost but also softens your skin.

Although The Christmas Penguin bubble bar is a Christmas product, I feel the scent is perfect for all seasons and not at all exclusive to the winter and Christmas season. This is shown through out the rest of the year in products that share its scent that are always readily available like the, The Olive Branch Shower Gel. I know Christmas time can be a little daunting for some people including myself, this bubble bar is great in that aspect as it’s not too in-your-face Christmas.

A Christmas Penguin bubble bath soothes, softens and moisturises your skin leaving it silky smooth. Once out of the bath the scent stays with you all day, I find myself not needing to moisturise after using it but if I want its delicious scent to have that little bit more throw, putting a dab of my The Olive Branch perfume on with a quick application of the, The Olive Branch body lotion helps a great deal.

I love how cheery the scent makes me feel and although it’s not my all-time favourite Lush scent it definitely makes it into my top 5. Why they didn’t have this as a bubble bar last year totally blows my mind, it is unquestionably one of my favourite products from Lush’s 2016 winter collection.

Golden Wonder Bath Bomb from Lush

When I very first tried the Golden Wonder bath bomb it made me want winter to last forever, a very bold statement for someone who has always disliked winter and is forever saying that they are cold!

Although I would still describe myself as a through and through summer girl, I am now content when winter arrives, knowing that I will be in the company of a huge amount of new and returning old, yet-much-loved winter Lush products makes it very, very easy.

With all thanks to Lush Cosmetics, what used to be an unbearable time of year for me, is now not just bearable but exciting too.golden-wonder-bath-bombI am ashamed to admit that it took me until Christmas 2015 to actually try the Golden Wonder bath bomb. In years prior to 2015, I just wasn’t at all interested in the collection as a whole. I would always go for other bath bombs that in my eyes, appeared more interesting.

I am mortified that it took me so long to try the Golden Wonder bath bomb and my ignorance with it has taught me to never leave a Lush stone unturned.

After finally using the Golden Wonder bath bomb in 2015 and furthermore instantly falling in love with it, I knew that without the Golden Wonder bath bomb Christmas would never be the same again. It is now one of my essential winter time products.

If Lush ever dared to not bring it back I think I’d have some sort of break down. That is no exaggeration either, I LOVE IT more than any of the other winter bath bombs. Christmas isn’t Christmas if I don’t have the Golden Wonder bath bomb to enjoy.

Golden Wonder Bath Bomb

If I could only use 3 Lush scents for the rest of my life the scent of the Golden Wonder bath bomb would make the list without question.

The scent of the bath bomb is called Celebrate and since falling in love with the Golden Wonder bath bomb, I have made it my mission to collect anything else that shares its scent.

Some of my favourite Lush products from its scent family are the solid and liquid perfume, the First Snow dusting powder and the Celebrate body lotion.

The Celebrate scent is often compared to champagne. I however disagree, the scent of the Golden Wonder bath bomb is way too citrusy for me to ever think of it as champagne inspired. I wouldn’t even put it in the same category as buck’s fizz. I urge anyone who isn’t sure on the scent to please give it a go, the more I use it, the more in love with it I fall.

Containing sweet orange, lime and cognac oil the Golden Wonder bath bomb smells to me just like Christmas, I can’t help but always subconsciously associate the two together.

Celebrate has a warm and inviting scent that it is portrayed very well within all of the other Lush products that are blessed with its same scent. Once you are hooked on one Celebrate product you will be in search for others that smell the same. Before you know it you will be starting a Celebrate-scented-quest. Your mission (which you will have no trouble in choosing to accept) is to combine all of the Celebrate scented products you can lay your hands on to make one Christmas-crazy, Lush product cocktail!

As well as smelling absolutely amazing, the Golden Wonder bath bomb puts on a fantastic show once plonked into your bath water. The very first time I used it I actually shouted ‘OOO!’ followed by me cursing (a lot) as none of the photos I took did the bath bomb any justice at all.

To this day I still haven’t captured any photos that I feel worthy of showing its full potential. You really have to try it for yourself to appreciate its true beauty.

Out of all of the bath bombs I have tried over the years Golden Wonder is still the one I will always remember as giving one of the best surprises upon first use.

img_9680

When placed in the bath water the Golden Wonder bath bomb begins to ferociously fizz, forming a small stream of dazzlingly gold bubbles. After a short moment other colours appear from within the golden bath bomb too.

img_9636

Nearer the end of the Golden Wonder’s performance small balls of pink, yellow, green and blue float to the surface, temporarily poker dotting the now deep blue, shimmery bath water.

The Golden Wonder bath bomb is a real pleasure to watch in the bath tub and a great treat for winter tired skin too, an added bonus that I had forgot to mention is the lustre and miniature dissolvable stars in it.

The slight golden shimmer that is left after the bath bomb has dissolved along with the light dusting of stars makes the bath water appear like a clear night’s sky.

Golden Wonder 1

Everything I like about a bath bomb is in Golden Wonder, EVERYTHING!

I am so, so impressed with this bath bomb and was so from very first use. It is one of the only winter bath bombs that I really, really look forward to getting every year.

The Golden Wonder bath bomb will always be one of my all-time favourite Lush products, the only reason I wouldn’t recommend it to others is so that there are more for me to buy and keep all for myself…
