Sleepy Bubble Bar from Lush

Sleepy Bubble Bar

The Sleepy Bubble Bar started its Lush life as a Harajuku, Japan store exclusive. It is however at the time of writing this review currently available from Lush’s UK website. Released alongside a mountain of other bubble bars in celebration of 30 years since the bubble bar was invented, Sleepy has been one of the most popular sellers of them all.

The Sleepy (aka Twilight) fragrance is one of Lush’s most popular so this bubble bar being a best seller was no surprise to me at all.

Sleepy’s bath bomb equivalent Twilight was actually my first ever Lush bath bomb so its scent will always mean a lot to me. A few years ago the Mum in a Spin bubble spinner was released, it too shared a scent with the Sleepy bubble bar. If you enjoyed the bubble spinner then you’ll adore the Sleepy bubble bar as it’s on par size-wise with the, The Comforter bubble bar. It’s HUGE making it excellent value for money.

This cloud shaped bubble bar contains benzoin resinoid, tonka-absolute and both lavender and ylang ylang oils making it perfect to use just before bed. A very small amount of the Sleepy bubble bar goes a very long way too, with it being so big I cannot express how happy the fact that a little goes a long way makes me!

I normally break my bubble bars up and throw a few of the pieces (see above photo) into a sieve, I then run the contents of the sieve under the baths tap, remembering of course to put the plug in first! 😉

As soon as the water comes into contact with the bubble-bar-pieces its sweet-lavender-scent fills the room. At the same time, the bath-water starts to turn a beautiful shade of purple and lots of fluffy white bubbles also begin to appear; It doesn’t take very long at all for the bubbles to form into a blanket-like-layer upon the waters surface.

You can easily get 4 generously bubbled baths out of just the one Sleepy bubble bar with no hindrance to its quality. I will be very surprised if Lush do not make this bubble bar a part of their permanent line once the 30 years of the bubble bar celebrations are over.

I am over-the-moon impressed with the Sleepy bubble bar, its scent remains on your skin even the morning after using it and it really does help me wind down of a night time. I love the Sleepy scent and totally recommend using the Sleepy shower gel and Sleepy body lotion alongside the Sleepy bubble bar.

If you’re looking to have a luxurious and relaxing bath then Sleepy bubble bar needs to be top of your list of things to chuck in the tub with you!

Rainbow Bubble Bar from Lush

Rainbow Bubble Bar

The Rainbow Bubble Bar started its Lush life as a Harajuku, Japan store exclusive. At the time of writing this review it is currently only available in the UK within a Lush gift set; This makes it a little bit harder to get a hold of BUT with the 30 years of the bubble bar celebration due to start, I suspect that it will soon be readily available for all. 🤞

Apart from its bright colours, the first thing that struck me about the Rainbow bubble bar was its larger size. Its design is very similar to a previously-released, retro-Lush-product the Ultra Violet bubble bar. Which is also rumoured to be making a return for the 30 years of the bubble bar celebration!

Containing a blend of benzoin resinoid, lemon myrtle and Sicilian lemon oils the Rainbow bubble bars scent is sweet and uplifting. Its scent is fabulously fruity yet subtle; Strangely it really smells of raspberries. I’ve never been very good at describing scents but Rainbow smells like a bowl of fresh raspberries with a splash of lemon; it is deliciously moreish to say the least!

To use the non-reuseable bubble bars like the Rainbow bubble bar,  I either crumble, or break them up then stick the bubble bar pieces (like the photo above) in to a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use the single use bubble bars. This method is the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that it makes the most bubbles!

I managed to get 3 very generously bubbled baths out of just the one Rainbow bubble bar, I am confident that you could however spread this product out over more than 3 baths. Although I feel as if 3 baths showed it to its full potential. A little amount of the bubble bar really does go a long way making it fantastic value for money.

The Rainbow bubble bars scent lasts throughout the bath as do the bubbles. The water underneath the blanket of fluffy white bubbles is a bold and very inviting shade of orange, it is a very similar colour to the water you get from the Brightside bubble bar. The water is also silky smooth to the touch and is really moisturising without being at all oily, a trait I always love in a bubble bar!

If you’re looking for a bath product that leaves you feeling happy and refreshed then the Rainbow bubble bar would be perfect for you. A good soak in a Rainbow bath leaves me feeling ready to take on the world. Once out of the bath my skin is fairly hydrated too, my skin is however normally very dry so the Rainbow bubble bar might be even more hydrating on other peoples skin.

Overall I am really impressed with the Rainbow bubble bar, we have needed a raspberry scented bubble bar for ages; If you miss the Mumkin bubble bar then you really do need to try Rainbow! Not only does my skin feel good after using Rainbow but its gentle fragrance stays on my skin for the rest of the day too. I have my fingers crossed that this bubble bar is a part of the 30 years of the bubble bar celebration as I’d love to stock up on a few.

Santa Reusable Bubble bar from Lush

Santa Reusable Bubble Bar

The Santa Reusable Bubble Bar was first released as a part of Lush’s exciting, 2019 Winter collection. Upon first glance I couldn’t quite believe just how intricate its design was; It is amazingly detailed, so-much-so that it makes it really hard to believe that it’s completely hand made.

Lush have most certainly used their 3D printer to the best degree when making the mould for this bubble bar. They have done a brilliant job in capturing the magic of Santa himself; His hat, his oversized slightly-red-from-the-cold nose, his beard and his moustache are absolutely true to how I envision Santa.

Containing lemon myrtle, lime and neroli oils the Santa reusable bubble bar is rich with awakening-super-zingy ingredients. It makes for a sharp, zesty and truly refreshing bath. I found myself using it mostly on the dark-December-mornings in a bid to wake myself up a bit; And wake me up it did!

Lush Reusable bubble bars have grown on me even more since giving the Santa reusable bubble bar a go. I often find with Lush’s reusable bubble bars that the colour they leave your water isn’t quite as bright as how the ordinary bubble bars (such as Brightside) leave your water.

The Santa reusable bubble bar has however broken that rule, it creates perfectly bright waters. I hope that in the future all of the reusable bubble bars are improved in this way too.

As soon as the Santa reusable bubble bar goes under the tap its cheery, pick-me-up scent engulfs your bathroom, bubbles then begin to build up very quickly. I had more than enough bubbles within minutes of placing this bubble bar under the running tap.

In total I got 4 generously bubbled baths out of just the one bubble bar. I think I could have got a few more out of it had I not been so greedy. The fact that it does go so far makes me a lot happier when faced with Santa’s costly retail price.

Underneath the thick blanket of citrus-rich bubbles is smooth-as-silk bath water that is a bold and beautiful Christmas-red. The bubbles also hang around for the whole of my time in the bath too.

Laying back in a Santa reusable bubble bar bath has really helped me relax during this very hectic time of year. My skin although not as moisturised as I’d like did appear brighter and feel smoother once I got out of the bath. Overall I am really impressed.
