Moon On A Stick Bath Bomb from Lush

The Moon On A Stick Bath Bomb is as beautiful as it is peculiar. It was originally released by Lush over a decade ago as a Lush-Forum-exclusive but recently made a comeback as an item in the October 2024 Lush Kitchen Subscription Box.

Its design is a little strange but there is a story behind it… It is inspired by the phrase, “What more do you want, the moon on a stick?”

While the stick doesn’t add any practical function to this product, it gives it a fun and unique touch, making this bath bomb the one that immediately catches your eye in a room full of Lush products.

Moon On A Stick is a grey-white colour and just like the actual moon, has lots of craters all over its surface, it’s round and is a similar size to the standard sized Lush bath bombs such as Twilight and Intergalactic.

As I said earlier, the stick attached to this bath bomb doesn’t serve any practical purpose, it is purely decorational. Some customers choose to remove the stick, while others keep the stick in.

I decided to remove my bath bombs stick just before I placed it into the water.

The Moon On A Stick bath bomb contains some of the following ingredients: jasmine absolute, neroli oil and ylang ylang oil.

It shares its scent with the Ghost shower gel, another retro product I can never get enough of.

Its scent is best described as slightly creamy with a light sprinkling of something floral. It’s a very subtle scent so better suited to customers that prefer the less in-your-face Lush-scent-families.

As soon as you place the Moon On A Stick bath bomb into your bath water it immediately starts to hiss; Grey-white coloured foam starts to spill out of it as it dissolves.

Within about 30 seconds of introducing the Moon On A Stick bath bomb to the water, a streak of blue bubbles then begins to trickle out of it.

Slowly but surely, more blue streaks burst out of the Moon On A Stick bath bomb and that’s when the bath art well and truly begins.

The Moon On A Stick bath bomb really is full of surprises. It looks so plain on the outside (and although I have learnt to never judge a bath bomb by its cover) I wasn’t expecting it to be as mesmerising as it was at all!

The photos in this review do the bath art created by the Moon On A Stick bath bomb no justice whatsoever. I also realised way too late that the bath bomb contained miniature dissolvable stars in it too.

After approximately 8 minutes, the Moon On A Stick bath bomb has fully dissolved; The water left behind is a deep shade of space blue.

A good long soak in a Moon On A Stick bath left my skin delicately scented and feeling soft and hydrated, this lasted for several hours after I got out of the bath.

Overall, I think this bath bomb is spectacular, from its name and the inspiration behind it, to its scent and stellar performance in the water.

It’s been a while since I’ve used a bath bomb with bath art this gorgeous!I really hope we get the chance to buy this bath bomb again very soon as it’s absolute perfection.

Xolo Bath Bomb from Lush

The Xolo Bath Bomb is a part of Lush’s Día de Muertos 2024 collection. Día de Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead is a holiday that is traditionally celebrated on the first 2 days of November.

It is widely celebrated in Mexico but is also observed in other places especially by people of Mexican heritage.

It is a celebration in honour of family and friends who have passed. It isn’t at all a period of mourning or a sad affair, it’s a cheerful holiday where the living come together to remember their departed loved ones.

The Xolo bath bomb is inspired by a Xoloitzcuintli (Xolo) dog. This particular breed of dog is sacred to Mexican culture and closely associated with Día de Muertos. Xolos are regarded as companions, that are believed to guide and protect the souls of the dead as they go about their journey to the underworld.

The Xolo bath bomb has been created in the shape of a Xolo dogs head. It is all white with pink, green and blue edges. It is incredibly detailed and has striking features just like a real life Xolo dog; Large pronounced ears, a long snout, big eyes and even has the tip of its tongue hanging out.

The bath bomb is also intricately decorated with different patterns all over it. It’s beautiful, almost too beautiful to use.

At 160g each the Xolo bath bomb is quite big, half of it is just its ears!

The Xolo bath bomb contains bergamot oil, blackcurrant absolute and cypress oil.

The Xolo bath bomb shares its scent with the much loved The Comforter bubble bar, its scent is best described as just like a warm hug. It has a very distinctive berry fragrance that at first, I wasn’t entirely sure about but over time, I have fallen head over heels in love with. I couldn’t think of a better fragrance for a sacred companion that is said to guide you to your afterlife.

As the Xolo bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a thin layer of blue, green and pink foam. Blue spills out of its top end, green out of its middle and pink out of its bottom.

It doesn’t take long for the bath bomb to be completely engulfed by the bath water. As it dissolves away, lighter blue, green and pink bath art spins out of it.

Its comforting scent fills your bathroom lulling you into a state of complete relaxation.

The Xolo bath bomb is quite a quick fizzer taking just under 10 minutes to fully dissolve. The photos in this review do the bath art created by the Xolo bath bomb no justice at all. The colours from it are pastel shades but are still strikingly beautiful.

Once fully dissolved the Xolo bath bombs water is silky soft, once out of the bath my skin felt smoother and also appeared brighter. The scent of the Xolo bath bomb also remained on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day too.

The Xolo bath bomb is truly beautiful, I adore its design and got a little emotional when learning about its origin. I lost my cat, Henry to cancer back in August and I just hoped someone met him when he passed to help guide him to the afterlife.

Overall, I love the Xolo bath bomb, its intricate design makes it one of Lush’s most detailed and beautifully unique bath bombs yet.

Brain Freeze Bath Bomb from Lush

The Brain Freeze Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2024 Halloween line.

As you can see, the Brain Freeze bath bomb has been created to look like a cartoon-version of a human skull. It is mostly white but has two dark blue, deep set eye sockets.

If this isn’t your first Lush Halloween, you may recognise the shape of the Brain Freeze bath bomb. This is because it is hand-pressed in the exact same mould as the Bonehead bubble bar from the 2023 Halloween line.

Each Brain Freeze bath bomb is approximately 130g fitting snuggly in my hand.

Some of the ingredients included in the Brain Freeze bath bomb are peppermint oil, cypress oil, spearmint oil, fine sea salt and a pinch of popping candy. You’ll recognise the bath bombs scent if you’re familiar with the past Lush product, the Melomint bubble bar.

The mixture of peppermint and spearmint oils makes for a cool and refreshing bathing experience, making the ‘Brain Freeze’ name perfect for this bath bomb…

The Brain Freeze’s scent is best described as soft yet fresh, crisp and a little woody too.

I feel as if the cypress oil in it stops the peppermint from being as sharp as it could be. Which isn’t a bad thing at all, I quite enjoy the more subtle and sweeter notes that the Brain Freeze bath bomb offers.

As an incredibly sleepy person, I love a minty product that blasts you awake but at this time of year I don’t want a product to cool me down in the same way as I would in the Summer months. The subtle minty freshness of the Brain Freeze bath bomb is perfect for the cooler Autumn months as it doesn’t leave your teeth chattering but still has a little kick.

As soon as the Brain Freeze bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with an explosion of dark blue foam at its top, and a lighter, sky blue foam at its bottom. The soft and gently refreshing scent slowly fills your bathroom as the water takes hold of the bath bomb.

Being honest, I did expect more bath art from the Brain Freeze bath bomb, and I also wouldn’t have known it had popping candy in it at all, had I not read the ingredients.

I have however seen other customers upload photos of bath art from this bath bomb to Instagram, they were lucky to get purple and various shades of blue swirls out of their Brain Freeze bath bomb!

The Brain Freeze bath bomb took just over six minutes to fully dissolve, leaving you with plenty of time to lay back and relax in its warm, sea-salt enriched, skin-softening, dark blue water.

The cool fresh scent is more subtle nearer the end of your bath but can still be detected on your skin for a few hours after getting out of the bath.

My skin felt like silk once I was dry and out of the bath, there was no need to moisturise with a body lotion afterwards.

I thoroughly enjoyed using the Brain Freeze bath bomb, I’d have maybe liked a bit more bath art but other than that it was a very enjoyable Halloween bath bomb!
