Prince Charming Shower Gel from Lush

Prince Charming Shower Gel

Lush’s 2020 Valentine’s Day line is already here and with that comes my first review of the year. The Prince Charming shower gel is a much loved retro-Lush-product. Long before I became an obsessive Lush-product-collector the Prince Charming shower gel graced Lush’s shelves, his reign covering the Valentine’s Day period for several years. In 2016 Lush decided to shake things up a bit and released Prince Charming in a shower cream format instead.

Fast forward to 2020 and after 2 years of no Prince Charming at all, Lush have brought it back BUT in its original format, a shower gel. Being honest as always, I have not experienced or found any huge differences between the 2 different formats but wanted to give the Prince Charming shower gel its own review regardless.

2020’s Prince Charming shower gel is a much deeper shade of red in comparison to the shower cream, it also has quite a lengthy ingredients list. It contains essential oils from grapefruit, sandalwood and geranium flowers as well as having a generous helping of fresh pomegranate juice and a blend of vanilla and marshmallow root infusions.

Living up to its name, the first word that comes to mind when I am trying to describe this shower gels scent is in fact, ‘charming’.

Its scent is often compared to the likes of the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream. While I can pinpoint what people mean when comparing the two, I feel Prince Charming’s scent is a little more complex, having several more layers to it. I would describe Prince Charming’s scent as zesty with a hint of floral that is all rounded off and mellowed down by the blend of sweet vanilla and marshmallow roots.

Consistency wise, I think the Prince Charming shower gel is pretty close to perfect. It’s not so thick that you can hardly get it out of the bottle and not too thin that you lose it all at the slightest tip of the bottle. As I mentioned earlier, apart from the darker colour the Prince Charming shower gel is almost identical to the shower cream equivalent, so much so that I am wondering why Lush even bothered to brand it as a shower ‘gel’.

The Prince Charming shower gel goes a very long way, a blob the size of a 50p coin is more than enough to use to for the whole of your body. The scent really comes alive once you’ve got it all lathered up in the hot and steamy shower, it leaves my skin positively radiant. It not only appears brighter, it also feels smooth to the touch and I can smell its subtle fragrance on my skin for the rest of the day.

Overall I am really impressed with this shower gel, it has such an inviting scent, it’s the perfect Valentine’s shower time treat!

Adam’s Apple Mouthwash Tabs from Lush

Adam's Apple Mouthwash Tabs.png

The Mouthwash tabs are still relatively new to Lush, they first made an appearance back in August 2016 and came in 3 different flavours.

For a long time the 3 original flavours were the only ones available but fast forward to now and several other mouthwash tabs have been created and some of them released. Sticking with their fruity theme, this years Valentine’s range included a brand new flavour of mouthwash tabs, Adam’s Apple.

When I first heard of the Adam’s Apple Mouthwash Tabs I couldn’t help but wonder if its flavour and scent would be just like the fragrance of one of my all time favourite products the So White bath bomb. Although I was a little disappointed that this wasn’t the case Adam’s Apple did still have a very pleasant scent.

Directions on how to use a Lush mouthwash tab are as follows; ‘After brushing your teeth, pop one tab into the mouth and take a sip of water to start the fizz. Nibble and swish before spitting out. They can also be used throughout the day whenever you fancy a bit of oral refreshment.’

All you need is one tab and a small swig of water to aid you in the quest of quick and easy oral refreshment. Freshening ones breath in-between morning and nightly brushing, has never been so easy. – I’d like to report that Adam’s Apple’s flavour was just as pleasant as its scent. There is something about its scents wetness that reminds me ever so slightly of the Once Upon A Time body lotion.

For me it tastes like super ripe, lemony, fresh and juicy pear; It actually contains spearmint, Sicilian lemon and lime oil too. Although in taste I cannot detect the spearmint I do pick it up in its scent somewhat. When I made my mum sniff it to help me describe it she however said that all she could smell was the spearmint… 🤷🏼‍♀️

It took me a little while to get my head around an oral product not being just minty as most toothpastes and mouthwashes available from companies such as Oral B or Colgate are either peppermint or spearmint only. I however warmed to Adam’s Apple after a few uses and it left my mouth fruity fresh.

While Adam’s Apple is not my favourite of the Lush mouthwash tabs flavour wise, they do, do a really good job at refreshing your mouth. It’s nice to have something so different from the masses on offer.

I can’t wait for Lush to release even more mouthwash tabs. There were several at the 2018 showcase on display (but not available to purchase) that I’d really like to get my hands on in the not so distant future!

Open Your Heart Bubble Bra from Lush

Open Your Heart Bubble BraBack in 2017 Lush released the Golden Pear soap as a part of their Winter line. Ever since the Golden Pear soaps release the Lush community have gone wild for its scent, due to its popularity  Lush have gone on to create several more products that share its scent.

Lush’s 2019 Valentine’s Day line features the Golden Pear scented Open Your Heart Bubble Bra. No, that isn’t a typo… it really is called the Open Your Heart bubble bra!

Inspired by Madonna’s pointed 80’s bra this bubble ‘bar’ screams to be bought, if you’re looking for a bubble bar with a unique selling point then a bubble ‘bra’ comes top of the list for sure…

Just like the Love Token reusable bubble bar which is also a part of 2019’s Valentine’s Day line, Open Your Heart is covered in gold shimmer, underneath its sparkly coating is yellowy-orange bubble bar. Designed in the same way as the Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon, 2 edges are sandwiched together. These edges obviously being the cups of Madonna’s iconic and very peculiar shaped bra.

Lush instruct you to use one half or both pieces of bubble bar to ensure you have a ‘Valentine’s bath you won’t forget in a hurry’. I personally used the whole thing together. Usually I’d try and spread a bubble bar over at least 2 baths but with Open Your Heart being quite small I found it was best for me to use it all at once.

I found that using just one half of it didn’t leave me with very many bubbles at all. It does however depend on your baths water pressure though, by all means if you get enough bubbles with half then only use half, it’s all down to personal preference really.

The Open Your Heart bubble bar has a somewhat sour-pear fragrance, it’s not quite as strong as its soap equivalent but is close enough for me to consider both products as in the same scent family. It’s a scent that reminds me of cooked pears, slowly baked in a pie smothered in sugar; Delicious!

Although it’s not a scent I go mad for personally, I can see why so many people do like it so very much.

Placed under the tap, the Open Up Your Heart bubble bar fills your bath up with a shimmery golden-yellow water. Although it did create a lot of bubbles, they didn’t stay around for very long, completely disappearing long before I’d finished my bath. This is however a common occurrence with Lush’s bubbleroon bubble bars because of their buttery centre.

What bubbleroons such as Open Your Heart lack in bubble-longevity they well make up for with how silky-soft they turn your bath water. My skin felt amazing once I had left the bath, not only was my skin lightly fragranced with the scent of Open Your Heart but it also felt refreshed, silky smooth and perfectly hydrated too.

Overall I did enjoy using the Open Your Heart bubble bar, it’s not my favourite of the 2019 Valentine’s line and I feel it would have been better in a different colour, (we already had a gold sparkly bubble bar in this years collection with Love Token) but I did enjoy its ingredients and how relaxed it left me.
