The Santa’s Grotto Bath Bomb (aka the Santa’s Workshop Bath Bomb – Both Santa’s Workshop and Santa’s Grotto are the exact same product, the bath bomb just goes by a different name depending on where you are in the world) was definitely the one I was most interested in when Lush’s 2019 Winter-line-up first got leaked. Decorated with a handful of all of the most Christmassy colours; Green, gold and red, it sure is an eye catcher! As well as its good looks, it also happens to have popping candy inside of it making it the perfect Winter treat for ALL of your senses.
The Santa’s Grotto bath bomb’s scent isn’t how I had imagined it to be at all, containing ylang ylang, tagetes and everlasting flower absolute oils its ingredients list doesn’t exactly scream Christmas… Its scent isn’t the easiest to describe either but in short, I’d say it is a floral-sweet, fresh and incredibly powerful fragrance. So strong that in a room full of Lush, my nose can pick Santa’s Grotto up straight away.
Although many people find that the stronger scented Lush products are more of an acquired ‘taste’, Santa’s Grotto is one of the stronger scents that I do personally enjoy. Out of all of the Winter bath bombs from this year, Santa’s Grotto is by far the prettiest with its decoration of red and gold sea salt and popping candy.
As soon as the Santa’s Grotto bath bomb hits the water you are greeted with a fizzy explosion. As Santa’s grotto bobs around in the water, minty green and blue foam swirls out of it creating the most gorgeous of bath art. Once Santa’s Grotto was in the bath, based on its colours the bath art it created reminded me of that left behind by the Thundersnow bath bomb.
Santa’s Grotto is a very slow fizzer leaving plenty of time to admire the bath art it leaves behind. The popping candy in the Santa’s Grotto bath bomb doesn’t take long to get started once placed in the water either. I don’t think I have ever had such a ‘snappy, crackly and poppy’ bath bomb experience before. It really was like sitting in my own personal firework display!
Overall I am really impressed with the Santa’s Grotto bath bomb, the bath art was magnificent and it left my skin feeling luxurious and soft. Its scent on my skin lasted for the best part of the rest of the day too. Fortunately its scent on my skin was a lot more subtle than the bath bomb on its own, as much as I did enjoy its scent, I think being exposed to it while it’s super strong may have been a little overwhelming for me. I will definitely be picking up a few of these before the Christmas line retires.
