Big Calm Shower Jelly from Lush

Big Calm Shower Jelly.png

Big Calm Shower Jelly was yet another Lush product I desperately wanted but always seemed to miss. My luck however changed for the better and this June just gone (2016) I managed to bag myself a pot!

Described by the Lush Kitchen team as a way to ‘take a dip into the Caribbean and enjoy year round sunshine,’ Big Calm shower jelly sounds like a bit of me.

Big Calm smells just like a piña colada. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it at first, it smelt good enough to drink and it really reminded me of beach, pool and sunny holidays.

Which might I add is the only type of holiday I think is worth going on because I’m lazy and can never get enough time snoozing in the sun.

There’s nothing I enjoy more than basking in the sunshine, book in one hand, cold drink in the other. When I am on holiday I want to do the same things all day, every day. Breakfast, drink, book then pool. Lunch, drink, book then pool and on and on until bedtime. Bliss.

A cold pool to cool down in makes hot weather so much more manageable, I am getting depressed writing this as I literally CRAVE a holiday right now… That’s where the Big Calm shower jelly comes in, although it isn’t a Caribbean holiday, if you shut your eyes in the shower it smells and feels pretty close to one.

Packed with several tropical ingredients; Pineapple, coconut infusion and sweet orange oil, this jelly really does smell like a dream holiday.

Big Calm also has vetivert oil in, I feel this adds a smoky depth to the jelly. In my imagination it makes me think of a beautiful beach BBQ, sand in between your toes, salt in the air, delicious food in your belly.

Big Calm is a deep dark blue with flecks of white. The exact shade of blue matches the deep parts of the sea that you wouldn’t want to snorkel in on your own, just in case Jaws was out swimming at the same time and same place. We’ve all seen the movie…

When I very first used Big Calm I was sure that something that smelt so fruitylicious would be sticky. It wasn’t, it lathered up so quickly and left my skin soft and smooth.

The refreshing scent stayed with me throughout the day. It made me really crave a pineapple and coconut juice. As much as I’d love a jug of piña colada or 10 I no longer drink alcohol, by ‘no longer,’ I mean I don’t even have the one glass on special occasions any more, boring I know. A pineapple and coconut juice however suffices and if you add a Big Calm shower into the mix it’s basically the same thing as a piña colada anyway.

Plum Rain Shower Gel from Lush

img_8653
When I very first see a photograph of the Plum Rain Shower Gel on Instagram, it took me by complete surprise. I hadn’t heard anything about it being released at all. This made it my new, number one must have Lush product.

As soon as I could, I texted my sister in law to let her know I would be sending her on a Lush Oxford Street errand at her earliest convenience. At the time of its debut (July 2016) it was an Oxford Street exclusive so could only be bought from that one store. Luckily for the rest of the world, it is now available exclusively online too.

Plum Rain shower gel is a deep and sexy purple. As soon as the parcel that was sent up from London by my sister in law arrived I grabbed Plum Rain ready to sniff it. I had decided prior to sniffing it that it must share its scent with the Mumkin Bubble Bar. I was however, wrong. Very wrong!

Its scent is completely different from anything I have tried from Lush before. It’s a very sour fruity smell BUT not at all unpleasant. It didn’t take me very long to fall in love with it at all.

Plum Rain shower gel is quite a thick gel. It is very similar in consistency to the likes of Lush’s Bubbly and Hot Toddy shower gels. A little of the product goes a very long way, the smallest amount of shower gel lathers up effortlessly and it is as you work it in your hands in preparation to cleanse your body that the scent really hits you. creditedPRSG3

It is one of the most interesting scents Lush have on offer and I cannot wait for them to bring out more products that share its scent. The scent is refreshing, warm and so very inviting, I can never get enough of it.

Although the Plum Rain shower gels scent doesn’t stay on your skin for very long after getting out of the shower or bath, it does linger in your hair if used as a shampoo. In regards to my skin, Plum Rain is incredibly hydrating, after using it my skin feels silky smooth.

I am honestly so pleased with Plum Rain, it has taken pride of place in amongst my other much loved Lush shower gels and creams.

Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb from Lush

shoot-for-the-stars-bath-bombI had this blog post drafted up and ready to post way back in November 2015. It had however unfortunately slipped into the deep and scarily dark land of lost blog posts… I was so sure that I had reviewed it but had convinced myself that I must have dreamt that I had reviewed it.

Although the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb isn’t currently available in the UK, Australia and New Zealand are currently having their yearly ‘Christmas in July’ sale, I’m not sure if this is one of the available products but I will still post this review today anyway. The rest of the world can bask in jealousy of Australia and New Zealand while reading my review.

😉

Without further ado, here are my thoughts on the Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb.

The Shoot for the Stars bath bomb is a blue, yellow and white, honey-lishous, toffee-sweet, ball of bicarbonate magic.

It shares it’s scent with a number of Lush’s most popular products. Some like Shoot for the Stars are seasonal, while others are available throughout the whole year.

The scents name is Honey I Washed the Kids. The Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar is probably my favourite out of all of the everyday range products that shares the same mouthwatering scent as Shoot for the Stars. Honey I Washed My Hair is in fact my most bought Lush shampoo bar, I really should pull my socks up and get on with a review for that product too! #Slacking

The Honey I Washed the Kids scent is very sweet, You can detect honey, toffee and hints of gooey caramel. It isn’t however sickly. I have never had much of a sweet tooth and my preferred tastes are the same as my preferred scents. I am so glad that I like this products scent as I was unsure at first. It features in so many Lush products that it would be a crime for me to not like it.

As soon as Shoot for the Stars hits your bath water, blue froth begins to foam out, floating on the top of the water. Yellows and whites soon follow and then a redish pink! The very first time I used Shoot for the stars it’s claret inside was a huge surprise, what I thought to be a pretty but cold coloured bath bomb, heated itself up with the addition of it’s dark red insides.

Another surprise that in my opinion is the cherry on top of this amazing bath bomb, is the addition of miniature confetti stars, they’re tiny and hard to get a photo of but you can see a few in the photo above.

They decorate the dark blue bath water perfectly. It’s like looking at the night sky.

The Shoot for the Stars bath bomb really is the perfect winters treat, I hope that Lush bring it back for the Winter 2016 range as it’s really not one I want to say goodbye to just yet. I still have a few left over from Christmas 2015 and I plan on holding on to them until I know fresh ones are on their way to me! 😉
