Crash Shower Jelly from Lush

Back in March 2019 I first got to experience the delightful Crash Shower Jelly on the opening day of Lush’s new flagship store in Liverpool. Sadly we could only admire it on that day as it was unavailable to purchase. I know a few lucky people however managed to get a pot or 2. I was bitterly jealous of course. 😉

Before now to be able to buy a pot you had to book an in store party. I finally managed to get hold of a large pot when I visited Lush Liverpool this July, it is still an in store party exclusive but as far as I am aware, Liverpool now sell it exclusively too.

Crash shower jelly shares its scent with all of the Lush products from the ‘Celebrate’ scent family. I throw the favourite word around a lot when it comes down to Lush but when it’s a product that is Celebrate scented I need every item available and in multiples.

I’d go as far as to say that the scent of the Crash shower jelly is my signature scent, I first experienced the Celebrate scent the first time I used the Golden Wonder bath bomb and I have been in love with the fragrance ever since.

You’ll be correct in saying that Lush have previously released a shower jelly in the same scent that Crash has, its name is Snowshowers. Apart from the obvious colour difference I didn’t immediately see any other differences between the 2 shower jellies. This has annoyed some long term customers but for me, seeing as it is a scent I love so much I don’t mind a reincarnation of it.

Crash isn’t the only shower jelly to have been rebranded this year either. Rumba shower jelly is another to have a new name and look. I’m not sure why Lush have rebranded them both but as a fan of both scent families, I am not complaining!

Crash’s ingredients list includes; sweet orange, lime and cognac oils. I personally can only really smell the sweet orange and lime from the pot, once in the shower the cognac oil does however reveal itself adding a warmth to the lather that I appreciate on a colder morning.

There are so many ways to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time. With the Crash shower jelly being slightly more fragile-a-jelly (something Snowshowers wasn’t) the chopping method is in my opinion the best way to get the most out of this particular shower jelly.

Overall I am very impressed with Crash. Yes, it is very similar to Snowshowers but as I mentioned earlier slightly more fragile, not a great characteristic but not bad enough to put me off of it completely, one pot has seen me through 14 showers so far and there’s still plenty left.

It is also a lot more hydrating on my skin than Snowshowers is. It lathers easier and the colour is just as bright as the likes of the Ectoplasm shower cream. I think it’s a wonderful addition to Lush’s shower jelly family and I am looking forward to further Celebrate scented product releases. 🤞 Lush if you’re reading this I really need a new Celebrate perfume to be released very soon, please and thank you! 😉

Cookie Dough Body Scrub from Lush

Cookie Dough Body Scrub

The Cookie Dough Body Scrub was released by Lush back in June of this year (2019), previous to its release Lush had released a lip scrub of the same name, the Cookie Dough lip scrub. The lip scrub remains very popular amongst customers so it was only natural for Lush to expand the Cookie Dough line by creating a Cookie Dough body scrub.

I admit I am not a huge fan of super sweet scents or flavours, but I got on ok with the Cookie Dough lip scrub, after hearing that the Cookie Dough body scrub was slightly thicker than the likes of the most recently released shower scrubs such as Mamma Mia and Scrub Scrub Scrub I wanted to give it a go.

Some people like gentle exfoliation products whilst I enjoy a rougher experience. As soon as I had a pot of the Cookie Dough body scrub in my hands I pulled off the lid excited to see what it was like. I’d actually describe it as very similar to the consistency of the Let the Good Times Roll fresh facial cleanser, it also looks very similar to actual cookie dough. I have however been reliably informed that it doesn’t taste like it… 😉

The Cookie Dough body scrub contains both fine sea salt and granulated sugar, this is the ingredients that act as the exfoliant, other included ingredients that add to its feel and fragrance are vanilla absolute and almond, pistachio and hazelnut oils.

Scent wise, I don’t think if I was going on a sniff test alone that I would say the Cookie Dough body scrub was exactly the same fragrance as the lip scrub. I find a lot sweeter, I can definitely detect the almond oil within it but sadly my nose doesn’t pick up on any of the hazelnut oil at all.

What surprised me the most was how thick the Cookie Dough body scrub was. I knew from what other people had said that it was going to be a chunkier formula than what we were used to from Lush BUT I just couldn’t quite believe how thick. At first I thought it was too thick to even get into a lather, after adding water to the mix of it in my hand it however became a lot easier to use, adopting a similar consistency to butter.

As body scrubs go I would say that Cookie Dough is one of the more gentle ones making it a good bet for those with sensitive skin, I’d recommend trying a sample of it before hand just to make sure though as everyone is different. A little of the body scrub does go a long way once blended with enough water. While my skin wasn’t left as exfoliated as I’d ordinarily like, it did leave my skin feeling soft.

After use its scent remains on my skin for an hour or 2. As I’m not a huge fan of the sweet scent that it boasts, this didn’t really effect my feelings towards it. I can imagine the Cookie Dough body scrub being a good product to use after a long day in the sun. The oils in it really do nourish and soften your skin.

Overall the Cookie Dough body scrub was a product I enjoyed using and it made a nice change from the shower scrubs. I will however be sticking with the Lush shower scrubs as I find their level of scrubbiness suits my skins needs much better. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try though!

NEW Blackberry Bath Bomb from Lush

I was ridiculously happy to see that the Blackberry Bath Bomb had made a comeback, albeit a brand new design. Originally this newly designed Blackberry bath bomb was available in just one store in the world, in Harajuku, Japan.

Thankfully it was brought out as a community release on the UK website in late 2018 and has gone on to be one of the celebration bath bombs, making it available to buy from some Lush stores and online from Lush’s UK website.

The new Blackberry bath bomb is pressed in the same mould as the, The Comforter bath bomb. Some say it looks like a juicy berry, while others say a puff of fluffy cloud. I must admit, this new design of the Blackberry bath bomb is a lot more attractive than the old design Blackberry bath bomb.

I adore the old version but know that it was rather plain and not at all as exciting or nearly as pleasing on the eye as other bath bombs that were available then.

My favourite part of the old Blackberry bath bomb was always its scent. Thankfully this bath bombs recent face lift was purely cosmetic and it still has the exact same fragrance that I fell in love with, all that time ago.

Containing bergamot and frankincense, it is the perfect blend of ingredients when you need to wind down and chill out. The frankincense offers a sweet and gentle woody aroma while the bergamot gives it a delicate citrus-fruit edge.

I know Lush make a lot of citrus based products but the Blackberry scented products are very different from other citrus scents, so much so that the word ‘citrus’ doesn’t even spring to mind upon first sniff. It’s a scent that works well in every season making it a great year-round bath bomb.

The blend of both bergamot and frankincense oil have in my personal opinion, magical properties. It happens to be the only not-over-the-counter product on planet earth that helps me combat my worst enemy, insomnia.

I always reach for it when I have restless legs, if I’m struggling to sleep or can’t relax. I’d go as far as to say that it works better than the Twilight bath bomb on this basis. A very bold statement but one I back wholeheartedly.

Just like the previous version of the Blackberry bath bomb, the new Blackberry bath bomb once in the bath water does dissolve very quickly, this means it isn’t one you’d want to use if you were after lots of bath art. Its scent however steals the show and has always been my favourite part about it.

As the Blackberry bath bomb fizzes away, it turns the bath water an inviting shade of purple while also adding some texture to it, the bath water feels just like silk once the bath bomb has fully dissolved.

My skin basks in its waters, I am always wowed by how incredibly hydrating the water of the Blackberry bath bomb is on my skin. Its beautiful and calming scent also stays on your skin for the best part of the next day after using it too.

The one thing that I do miss about the previous version of the Blackberry bath bomb is its hidden paper message. Although this didn’t add any real value to the product and served no purpose, it added a little fun twist to its end. I used to have a pot that I put all of mine in, it was quite the collection…

The Blackberry bath bomb was my most used product up until its discontinuation so having it back and readily available has been a real treat for me. It really is a miracle product in my eyes and one I never want to be without.

I’m hoping that this Halloween, Lush bring back the Bewitched bubble bar as it shares its scent with the Blackberry bath bomb and I’d love to be able to use both of them together again! 😊
