By Night One Way, By Day Another Body Spray from Lush

This March, Lush have released yet another amazingly popular collaboration line. This small but impressive line is inspired by no other than the Shrek franchise!

Today I am reviewing the By Night One Way, By Day Another Body Spray.

As you can see from the photos I have included in this review, the By Night One Way, By Day Another body spray has such a detailed product label featuring princess Fiona.

The magical part of this label is that it glows in the dark.

By day the picture of princess Fiona is a human and at night (in the dark) you can see a glow-in-the-dark version of princess Fiona as an ogre, just like in the Shrek movie!

The attention to detail from Lush in each of their products always blows my mind but this label really puts this product out there in a league of its own.

The By Night One Way, By Day Another body spray’s scent is brand new to Lush but also features in the Fiona shower gel from the same Lush X Shrek line.

The By Night One Way, By Day Another body spray contains some of the following ingredients, mango leaf absolute, violet leaf absolute and Persian lime oil.

Lush describe the body spray on their website as a ‘fairytale blend of lime and mango leaf with notes of fresh juicy melon and crisp green apple’.

Immediately after spraying the By Night One Way, By Day Another body spray you’re hit with a blend of lime and mango.

After it’s been on your skin for while crisp apple notes then come through and so does the melon aspect of the fragrance.

When Lush described the melon notes of this body spray as juicy, they weren’t wrong. It’s hard for me to put into words but I can really smell just how juicy the melon is. In some ways it’s just like you’re eating a melon…

As the body spray settles greener notes come through too, it really is just like a fairytale forest!

With the By Night One Way, By Day Another body spray being such a fruit dominant fragrance I was expecting its staying power to be weak but I was pleasantly surprised that the body spray didn’t need a top up until about 8 hours later. One quick spritz is all you need to leave you smelling great all day.

Overall, I love the By Night One Way, By Day Another body spray; The scent captures princess Fiona as a character so well and also ties in the whole fairytale theme too.

I hope this isn’t the last we see of this fresh and fruity Lush fragrance, I’d love to see it in other product formats in the future, a bath bomb or body lotion equivalent would be delicious.

Donkey Bath Bomb from Lush

Another day, another review of a product from the Lush X Shrek collaboration. Today I am pleased to be reviewing the Donkey Bath Bomb for you all!

Ahead of the products website release on the 25th of March (2024), I was lucky enough to be gifted most of the line by Lush. thanks again Lush, you’ve made my month with this surprise box of Shrek goodies!

Donkey is the very annoying but much loved, side kick/noble steed of the main character, Shrek.

The Donkey bath bomb does not disappoint looks wise, he is instantly recognisable as the flying, talking Donkey from the Shrek films; The fact that each Donkey bath bomb is handmade blows my mind. The 3D printer bath-bomb-moulds just keep getting better and better.

Donkey is a mixture of two colours, a silverish grey and bright blue. He is posing with his head to one side, with a big toothy grin and has one of his front legs lifted.

The Donkey bath bomb contains clove bud and ylang ylang oil and shares its scent with products from the Yog Nog Lush-scent-family such as the Yog Nog bath bomb and Yog Nog shower gel.

If you’ve watched Shrek, you’ll know that Donkey’s favourite food is waffles and that’s exactly what the Donkey bath bomb smells like! Lush’s attention to detail for every product they create is so much more than just making them look good.

When the Donkey bath bomb first encounters your bath water there is an explosion of blue foam, this quickly separates from the bath bomb, and you start to see super-shimmery, light grey foam spill out of it too.

It doesn’t take long for the water to fully engulf the Donkey bath bomb, as he slips under, shimmery blue and almost white bath art trickles out of it as it floats just under the water’s surface.

The photos I have included in this review do the Donkey bath bomb no justice at all, the bath art that it creates is very similar to the likes of the Frozen bath bomb, INCREDIBLE.

It takes about six minutes for the Donkey bath bomb to fully dissolve, the water left behind is a very inviting sky blue, I couldn’t stop swishing the water around as it’s so incredibly sparkly!

The Yog Nog, waffle-like-scent stays in your bathroom right up until the last drop of bath water disappears down your plug hole. It then remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, shimmer too.

A Donkey bath left my skin feeling completely refreshed and left me craving waffles.

While I hate to pick favourites because I am ridiculously indecisive, I have to say that the Donkey bath bomb impressed me so much that if I had to choose between it and the Shrek Swamp bath bomb (from the same line), I’d choose Donkey based on its bath art.

I wasn’t expecting to like the Donkey bath bomb so much, the scent suited it so well and I also wasn’t expecting such incredible bath art from it either.

I’m so sad that the Shrek line is limited edition as I feel most of the products in it would do well as permanent main-line-products.

Fiona Shower Gel from Lush

This March, Lush released yet another influx of collaboration products and I’ve never been more excited with a collection.

The small but impressive line that was released online yesterday (25th of March 2024) is inspired by no other than the Shrek franchise!

Each of the brand-new products from the Lush X Shrek collection are said to celebrate everyone’s inner-swampy-self and contrasts with the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic of recent years.

Ahead of the products online release, I was lucky enough to be gifted most of the line by Lush. thanks again Lush, you’ve made my month with this surprise box of Shrek goodies!

As you can see from the photos I have included in this review, the Fiona shower gel has such an incredibly detailed product label featuring princess Fiona’s face as a human and as an ogre.

Lush were wise to use these types of visuals on their packaging for this line, I know Lush would prefer no packaging for their products at all but I feel that a huge part of this shower gels appeal is the beautiful art on its bottle.

The almost glowing neon green Fiona Shower Gel contains fine sea salt, fresh cucumber juice, mango leaf absolute, violet leaf absolute, Persian lime oil and buchu oil.

Its scent is brand new to Lush and is described on their website as a ‘fragrant fairytale blend’.

As soon as you take the shower gels lid off, you’re hit with an apple and mango fragrance. The more you sniff the more that seems to come through. Sniffing it straight from the bottle there’s also melon-like notes in it too.

Consistency wise, the Fiona shower gel is very easy to get out of the bottle, it’s a fairly translucent green, reminding me of stained glass (which happens to be featured in quite a famous scene in the Shrek movie!)

The Fiona shower gel is slightly less thick than the likes of the Luigi shower gel (another green shower gel from Lush’s past) I’m guessing this looser consistency is because of the fresh cucumber juice in it.

Although I have said that the consistency of this shower gel is looser it is by no means runny. A very small amount of the Fiona shower gel goes a long way too which is always a plus with Lush products.

What I wasn’t expecting with the Fiona shower gel was how its scent seemed to develop once mixed in with the hot water and steam of the shower.

The Fiona shower gel lathers up easily and during use you’re hit with several more layers of scent notes. The first new note that I noticed was lime-like, it seems to blend with the apple in it giving it a sour-apple edge.

The more I lathered up the shower gel the more I could smell, there’s a freshly cut grass element to it and the cucumber in it really comes through too.

After use, my skin not only appears brighter but is left feeling super clean and hydrated. The scent lingers on your skin for a good few hours too.

Overall, I love the Fiona shower gel; The scent captures princess Fiona as a character so well and the best news is, there’s a body spray equivalent! I promise to get a review of the body spray up in the next few days.

I hope this isn’t the last we see of this fresh and fruity Lush fragrance, I’d love to see it in other product formats in the future.
