Shrek Pack Power Mask from Lush

The Shrek Pack Power Mask is another I was kindly gifted by Lush and it is the only item from the Lush X Shrek collaboration that isn’t brand new… It is actually just the Mask of Magnaminty face and body mask.

In Korea customers fondly refer to the Mask of Magnaminty as the ‘Shrek Pack’ because of its ogre-like green hue, instead of making a whole new face and body mask Lush have given Mask of Magnaminty a Shrek label to honour the ‘Shrek Pack’ trend instead!

I first reviewed the Mask of Magnaminty for you when I was back in my twenties, I am now in my thirties and still use it now.

The Mask of Magnaminty is perfect for anyone who has oily or acne prone skin, it also really helps soothe any redness I get. My skin is rather dramatic and can never make its mind up, one day it wants to be oily the next flaky and dry. Using this face mask once or twice a week however helps balance my skin out.

The Shrek Pack power mask contains some of the following ingredients, honey, evening primrose seeds, peppermint oil, tagetes oil, ground aduki beans and vanilla absolute.

Its carefully selected mixture of gentle ingredients all work in harmony together to clean, calm and clear your skin.

The ingredient that is most prominent to me in the Shrek Pack both (from its real name) and its scent is peppermint oil. Peppermint oil has a cooling effect on your skin and as soon as you start to put the Mask on, you feel it working its skin-soothing-magic.

The cooling effect you feel on your face immediately after application always makes me feel so relieved. I can almost feel my skin relax ready for its weekly treat!

The peppermint oil cools and soothes skin, while the honey cleanse and moisturise the skin. Honey actually has antibacterial properties so is a very popular vegetarian ingredient throughout the cosmetics industry.

The addition of primrose seeds and aduki beans adds texture to the Shrek Pack/Mask of Magnaminty, this product is not only a great cleanser but also a very gentle exfoliator too.

Primrose is used in cosmetic products all over the world for its natural, anti-inflammatory properties. It is a very gentle and natural ingredient to use on skin like mine.

When I apply any Lush face mask I do it with a teaspoon. Lush face masks are often advised to be applied using your fingers. I however always use a teaspoon as it can get messy very quickly! I also prefer to use a teaspoon because I don’t want to add any unnecessary bacteria to the product that is left in the pot.

Using your fingers shortens the face masks shelf life and means that you often have to throw it away before it is all finished. It makes sense to keep the ingredients as fresh as possible so that I can use the mask all up, wasting none.

Using a spoon not only helps my mask stay fresher for longer but it also helps me spread out the mask more evenly.
Once the mask is applied, I leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.

As the 15 minutes tick away, if you look in the mirror you can see the mask working its magic. It drags out all of the nasty oils and impurities from your pores and it is so, so refreshing.

Not everyone’s skin worries are stationed just on their face, I get quite a few on my shoulders and back too. The Mask of Magnaminty/Shrek Pack can be used all over the body and isn’t exclusively just for your face.

When it comes to taking Lush face masks off I grab a clean flannel, wet it in hot, clean water and slowly wipe it off until all has been removed.

The first time I used this product I could really, really see a significant change in the size of my pores, some were now so small that if I didn’t know they were once there I wouldn’t know they ever existed.

The Mask of Magnaminty/Shrek Pack really is an amazing skincare product and one I can’t ever be without, I love how it’s become a Shrek product before Lush even did the Lush X Shrek collaboration.

Gingy Bubble Bar from Lush

The Gingy Bubble Bar is yet another product from the Lush X Shrek collaboration line, Lush were very kind and sent it over to me.

All of the products in this line are inspired by no other than the Shrek franchise. Today I am reviewing the Gingy bubble bar, I have left it to one of the last ones to review as I just couldn’t face chopping him up…

Lush have done so well in making the Gingy bubble bar, it looks like he just popped straight out of the film and into your bathroom.

Anyone who says they couldn’t hear Gingy’s voice in their head screaming ‘YOU’RE A MONSTER!’ as they were preparing him for his bath are telling you lies! 😉

Each Gingy bubble bar is approximately 100g each and contains some of the following ingredients, Brazilian orange oil, ginger absolute, carob resinoid, fenugreek absolute, and almond essential oil.

When I first saw what was in the Lush X Shrek line, I was sure that the Gingy bubble bar would be a favourite as I love the spicier products such as this year’s Easter, Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar and the Winter-time favourite Cinnamon Roll bubble bar.

Gingy’s scent is apparently the same as the Carrot Cake lip scrub, although if I hadn’t had been told that, I’d never have put the two together. On first sniff I liked Gingy but couldn’t quite place one part of the scent.

It’s a sweet yet warm scent, the ginger is very noticeable but what changes the scent from being ginger-biscuit-like is the fenugreek absolute. It really is a scent you have to smell for yourself as it’s incredibly difficult to describe. Although very subtle, the ginger-biscuit element is there but the fenugreek seems to mask the ginger a lot adding a whole layer of muskiness to it.

Other than its design and scent, the next thing I noticed about the Gingy bubble bar was how solid it was, it wasn’t hard to break up into pieces, but it wasn’t as soft as most other Lush, single-use bubble bars.

To use the Gingy Bubble Bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it.

I find the sieve method the most effective way to use Lush’s single use bubble bars. It is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted. Through trial and error, I have found that using bubble bars like this makes the most bubbles too.

The best thing about the Gingy bubble bar is how far such a small amount of it goes. With it being only 100g I thought I’d end up needing to use the whole thing but just his legs seemed to make plenty of bubbles. If you are unsure of its unique scent, maybe using it sparingly like I did is a good idea. After all, you can always add more if you feel it needs it!

The blanket of fluffy white bubbles starts to grow as soon as you place the broken-up pieces of the Gingy Bubble Bar under the running tap. Underneath the fast-building blanket of fluffy, white bubbles the water turns a pastel yellow.

Once in the bath, I couldn’t help but notice how soft the water was even though I had used a very small amount of product. A Gingy bubble-bar-bath leaves your skin feeling softer and nice and toasty.

Once out of the bath, its scent although very subtle, lasted on my skin for a good-few-hours.

Overall, I did like the Gingy bubble bar, the fenugreek in it was a complete curve ball for me. It wasn’t at all unpleasant just wasn’t what I was expecting from a gingerbread man product at all.

Get Outta My Swamp Shower Slime from Lush

The Get Outta My Swamp Shower Slime is one of the brand-new products from the Lush X Shrek collaboration.

Ahead of the products website release on the 25th of March (2024) I was lucky enough to be gifted a pot of it by Lush and I can’t thank them enough for this.

Reviewing Lush products is just a hobby of mine, I never expect to be gifted anything, I am incredibly grateful just knowing that Lush know I exist in the first place!

All of the Lush X Shrek goodies are inspired by the Shrek franchise, but none are more ogre-appropriate than this glorious, yellowy-green shower slime…

Lush’s invention of the shower slime is a real conversation starter, and over the last few years I have heard mixed reviews on the concept of them BUT, I have yet to hear a single negative review from anyone who has actually used one.

Shower slime IS very slime-like BUT it’s not that much different to a shower gel. In fact, you pretty much use them just as you would a shower gel. They have a thicker, more tacky, milky-dough-like-consistency but are not at all sticky.

The Get Outta My Swamp shower slime shares its scent with another product from the Lush X Shrek collection, the Shrek Swamp bath bomb.

Some of the ingredients found in the Get Outta My Swamp shower slime are fresh wheatgrass juice, glycerine, corn starch, xanthan gum, pine oil, vetivert oil, peppermint oil and cocoa absolute.

Upon opening the lid, I can immediately smell the peppermint in it, the more you sniff the more layers of its fragrance seem to come through. I can also smell chocolate although it is subtle.

A small amount of the Get Outta My Swamp shower slime goes a long way making it very cost effective. As I said earlier, you use a shower slime in the exact same way as you would a shower gel. Scoop however much you want out of the pot then begin to lather it into your skin.

Looking into the pot the Get Outta My Swamp shower slime looks like a darker green colour but as you scoop it out of the pot and start to manipulate it in your hands you see that it is an almost luminous yellow. Coating yourself in it leaves you looking just like an ogre!

I must admit, I did panic a little when I see just how bright it was on my skin, but this super-creamy shower product easily rinsed off leaving my skin clean, soothed, and silky.

Once the Get Outta My Swamp shower slime is in amongst the hot water and steam of the shower its scent intensifies, you can really smell earthy notes in it too now.

Once out of the shower, the scent of the Get Outta My Swamp shower slime can still be detected on your skin several hours after using it.

What I wasn’t expecting from a shower slime was how soft it left my skin, it not only feels softer but also looks brighter too.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Get Outta My Swamp shower slime, it not only does a good job of cleansing your skin but is also fun to use too. I can see this product being fun for all of the family, especially if you’re a Shrek fan already!
