Gingerbread Lip Scrub from Lush

The main ingredient in all of Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. To this day I am still lost for words that such a simple and natural mix of ingredients can do such a great job at exfoliating.

It really does make me question why other cosmetic companies ever chose to use (the now illegal) micro-plastics over sugar in their exfoliation products.

Lush’s lip scrubs are ridiculously underrated and today I am going to be reviewing the Gingerbread Lip Scrub from Lush’s 2023, Christmas line.

I use Lush lip scrubs almost every day so whenever a new one comes out, I always make sure I grab a pot.

Using Lush lip scrubs requires a minimum amount of effort, and they cover everything your lips need to always look and feel their best. They are the perfect product to exfoliate dry or chapped lips and are also very good at softening and hydrating them at the same time.

Exfoliating your lips has so many benefits and with all thanks to Lush, it has never been easier to do.

The Gingerbread lip scrub is brand new to Lush this year and packed full of gingerbread-baking-ingredients.

As well as caster sugar, the Gingerbread lip scrub also contains organic jojoba oil, granulated sugar, fair trade shea butter, fine sea salt, bergamot oil, cinnamon leaf oil, carob resinoid, ginger oil, benzoin resinoid and cocoa powder.

To use, simply scoop out a little amount of the lip scrub onto your finger and gently buff your lips with it. You can then wipe off the excess.

Lush’s lip scrubs are obviously not meant to be eaten; BUT if a little amount of it does accidently end up in your mouth while you are scrubbing your lips, you don’t need to worry.

The Gingerbread lip scrub is a similar colour to brown sugar.

Ordinarily, I tend to favour the lighter or more natural to actual lip-colour lip scrubs over the brightly coloured ones because I find that the highly pigmented scrubs can sometimes (after use) leave your lips with a slight tinge of whatever colour the lip scrub is.

With the Gingerbread lip scrub being a more natural colour, I am pleased to report that I didn’t get this problem.

Even though I’m usually not a huge fan of the Lush products that are super sweet, I find that the Gingerbread lip scrub is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy.

It tastes and smells more or less the same as a gingerbread cookie but it also reminds me of carrot cake too.

If I had to choose a favourite out of the new 2023 lip scrub releases the Gingerbread lip scrub would be in my top 3.

A small amount of it goes a long way as it’s such a fine and scrubby formula. My lips feel smoother with little to no effort, and I also find the formula very hydrating.

I do however recommend a quick dab of lip balm after using lip scrubs, especially in the Winter just to add an extra layer of hydration.

I think it’s safe to say that I love the Gingerbread lip scrub; It exfoliates and hydrates your lips perfectly and tastes and smells incredible too.

Lush, If you read this, we need a lip balm in this same scent for next Christmas please!

Catch Me If You Can Bath Bomb from Lush

The Catch Me If You Can Bath Bomb first became available as a part of 2023’s Winter line.

Both its name and design are inspired by the Gingerbread Man fairy tale.

As the fairy tale says, the Gingerbread man-shaped-biscuit comes to life as soon as the oven door it was baked in opens. He doesn’t want to be eaten so runs for his life while shouting over his shoulder ‘Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me. I’m the Gingerbread man!’ 

When Lush create character products, it always makes them a little more difficult to use.

The Catch Me If You Can bath bomb is shaped into the perfect little gingerbread man. With big beady eyes and smile to match, two big buttons and little arms and legs.

The Catch Me If You Can bath bomb is covered in golden shimmer and underneath the shimmering gold layer are further layers of green, yellow and blue.

The Catch Me If You Can bath bomb shares its scent with the Golden Wonder bath bomb from Christmas lines of the past.

Being honest as always, the Catch Me If You Can bath bomb is pretty much just a reimagined version of the Golden Wonder bath bomb. If you liked Golden Wonder, it’s worth giving the Catch Me If You Can bath bomb a go.

The best way to describe the Catch Me If You Can bath bomb’s scent is a tangy citrus with a warm, boozy punch, think orange juice mixed with bubbly champagne!

Ingredients wise, it contains sweet wild orange oil, lime oil and ginger powder.

Each Catch Me If You Can bath bomb is only 80g each making it one of Lush’s smallest bath bombs to date.

Before the Golden Wonder bath bomb was discontinued as a Winter product the price of it had shot up a great deal each year, I think this is probably why Lush have condensed the bath bomb so much, creating Catch Me If You Can as a smaller alternative.

As soon as the Catch Me If You Can bath bomb meets your bath water you are greeted with a burst of blue, green and yellow foam.

As the water takes over the bath bomb, the golden shimmer on the top layers of the bath bomb slowly starts to spread into the water too.

Considering its size, I was surprised to see that The Catch Me If You Can bath bomb took just over 15 minutes to fully dissolve!

This is much longer than most Lush bath bombs. The colourful bath art left behind by the Catch Me If You Can bath bomb is so much better in person, unfortunately this time of year leaves me with ridiculously bad lighting so the photos in this review do the bath bomb no justice at all.

Nearer the end of its time in the water the bath art it created reminded me of the Fizzbanger bath bomb with it mostly being yellow and blue. The bath water at the end was an almost neon green. Again, just like Fizzbanger.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Catch Me If You Can bath bomb.

The scent could have been a little stronger, it had almost completely faded long before I was ready to get out of the bath. I am guessing this is because of the bath bombs smaller size.

My skin did feel soft after using the Catch Me If You Can bath bomb but again, the scent wasn’t detectable on my skin at all. The bath did however leave me feeling warm and relaxed.

I would love to see this bath bomb come back (with a stronger fragrance) but have learnt to not get too attached to any Wintertime Lush bath bomb as they rarely make a reappearance the year after their first release. I have my fingers crossed this bath bomb isn’t yet again just a one-hit-wonder!

Snow Fairy Shower Jelly from Lush

The Snow Fairy Shower Jelly is a brand-new, limited-edition, Christmas product that first became available in the UK at the end of September 2023. The Snow Fairy scent dominates the Lush Christmas line year in year out, but this is the first time Lush have released a shower jelly in its scent.

Bright pink in colour and designed in the shape of a fairy with long, centre-parted hair, wings, two beady eyes and a big star on her chest, I could see straight away that looks wise, the Snow Fairy shower jelly would be particularly appealing to younger Lush customers.

The Snow Fairy shower jelly has however gone down a treat amongst customers of all ages. It comes in just one size, they are 90g each so are sold in the smaller Lush pots. Although, some Lush stores have been lucky enough to be given a giant version of the Snow Fairy shower jelly to put on display on their shop floor.

The 90g version of the Snow Fairy shower jelly that is available to purchase fits perfectly in my hand making it very easy to use.

The Snow Fairy scent is best described as a sweet blend of candy floss and bubble gum. My first experience with the Snow Fairy scent was through the Snow Fairy shower gel many years ago.

I don’t always favour the super-sweet-scented Lush products however, with the Snow Fairy scent featuring so heavily in so many of Lush’s best-selling products it’s impossible to avoid.

I often find that Lush’s character shaped jellies like the Snow Fairy shower jelly aren’t always as sturdy and robust as the normal potted-shaped shower jellies. As I had predicted, the Snow Fairy shower jelly did begin to fall apart after just a few uses. However, I realised I’d rather use it and lose it than not use it at all.

There is no right or wrong way to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time which is a good method if you’re sharing it with somebody else.

If you do keep your Snow Fairy shower jelly whole, as I mentioned above, the shower jelly is just the right size to fit snuggly in your hand. It is a lot easier to keep a hold of in the shower being this size too. Once you’ve used it simply rinse it off and then pop it back into the pot until you next want to use it.

The Snow Fairy shower jelly lathers up quickly and creates a thin but creamy foam. A little goes a long way and glides over your skin easily. Its bubble gum rich scent is strong. As soon as you take the pots lid off, you are hit with its sweet scent but in use is when its scent really comes to life. Mixed alongside the hot water and steam of the shower its scent takes over your bathroom.

After using the Snow Fairy shower jelly my skin feels clean and fresh, it also appears somewhat brighter. It isn’t hugely moisturising but doesn’t leave me desperate to slather myself with body lotion either. If you did however want to extend on its bubble gum scent, Lush do have a Snow Fairy body lotion.

Overall, I enjoyed using the Snow Fairy shower jelly, I won’t be buying another as there are so many other Snow Fairy products available too but I’m glad I got to try one pot.
