Dragon’s Egg Bath Bomb from Lush

dragons-egg-bath-bombIt really annoys me when people use the word ‘boring’ to describe the Dragon’s Egg Bath Bomb. Why? because it is anything but boring. Up against all of the other bath bombs such as Fizzbanger, Frozen and Lava Lamp I can definitely see why people may over look it, to however call it boring is an undeserved insult.

Yes it’s a pale cream colour and not nearly as bright as some of the other surrounding bath bombs but you should never judge a book by its cover. A bath bomb has so much more going for it than just its colour or shape.

What made the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb stand out to me was its amazing fragrance. It has a sweet yet sharp lemon sherbet scent that makes my mouth water. If I’m struggling for energy a Dragon’s Egg bath always gives me a boost.

Inspired by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, (obviously because of the dragons and of course the prefect-only-bathroom scene that every Lushie is of course insanely jealous of) The Dragon’s Egg bath bomb is decorated with a light dusting of coloured, rice-paper circles. These are added to the outer layer of the bath bomb in the final stages of it being made and pressed into its temporary mold.

As the bath bomb dissolves in your bath water, layer by layer it slowly reveals them. They are however very delicate colours, I have heard a few people say that the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb would create bath art on par with the Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb, unfortunately it doesn’t. This doesn’t however make it a bad bath bomb.

The Dragon’s Egg bath bomb is a slow burner. At first nothing much seems to be happening visually. The scent of it intensifies and fills your bathroom immediately after hitting the water, it isn’t until a good 8/10 minutes later that it becomes visually pleasing  too.

The bath bomb then appears to crack, with that crack a burst of golden orange bubbles begins to spill out of the bath bomb creating the most beautiful, shimmery patterns on the top of your bath water.

Shortly after that there appears to be something else going on. People that aren’t aware that the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb contains popping candy are in for a BIG surprise at this point. Not only is the water slowly getting decorated with shimmery patterns but there appears to be a lot of snap, crackle and pops! Which might I add is a very strange yet pleasant experience.

A Dragon’s Egg bath always leaves my skin in tip-top condition. I not only get out of the bath with smooth hydrated skin but I smell fabulous too.

The Dragon’s Egg has one of my most favourite Lush scents, if not my ACTUAL favourite. There is just something about its sweet-citrus scent that gets me every time. It boosts my mood if I’m feeling low, fights fatigue when I’m not feeling very perky and also helps me sort out my head when I’m feeling stressed or not thinking clearly.

It’s a great bath bomb that pleases all of your senses, there’s not one single thing about it that is ‘boring.’ I  really don’t know what the Dragon Egg haters are talking about. It’s fabulous!

Frog Prince Bath Bomb from Lush

I can never resist trying out the mini seasonal bath bombs like Frog Prince. The small, character shaped bath bombs are more of a novelty to me, I however like to stock up on them as they make for excellent ingredients for some great Lush-bath-cocktails.

Other great character bath bombs that are of a similar size are Ickle Baby Bot, Spring Bunny and Butterbear.

The Frog Prince bath bomb has a floral scent that epitomises Valentine’s Day perfectly. It’s rich with jasmine, rose and ylang ylang oil and although I am not always a fan of the floral products the Frog Prince is one that I do enjoy using.

Frog Prince is a very green, frog shaped product that flaunts bright red bath-melt lips. Once placed in the water, the Frog Prince bath bomb starts to fizzle away sending small jets of green fizz across the water.

Considering its smaller size, I was very surprised that the Frog Prince bath bomb took a lot longer to fully dissolve than I had expected. The bright red lips are visible throughout and with a pout that Angelina Jolie would be jealous of there’s no guessing why…

Once the frog has fully dissolved the lips begin to melt. As the lips slowly bob around the water they create pretty red swirls that stand out like a neon sign up against the green tinted water.

Again, for such a small bath bomb I was amazed at how moisturising it was on my skin. The smaller bath bombs aren’t normally as hydrating as the larger ones so this was an unexpected surprise.

The last surprise from this bath bomb is the hidden note you get in it. I found a note with a picture of Lush Kitchen’s Sam on it, it says ‘Princess Sam was made to kiss you,’  It is such a cute touch to a lovely bath bomb.

I know I said at the start of this review that I like to get the smaller bath bombs such as the Frog Prince because I like to use them in Lush cocktails, Frog Prince however does work really well on its own. For such a small bath bomb it really is very, very impressive!

Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon from Lush

Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon.png

The Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon is definitely my favourite out of all the macaroon inspired bubble bars. To me, it smells just like Jaffa Cakes. My first experience with the scent was with the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream, I’d looked at the bubbleroon equivalent in store but always decided to get one of the bigger bubble bars such as Brightside instead.

Once I had however tried the shower cream I was hooked. I think it was at this point of my Lush journey where I realised that Lush Cosmetics do so much more than hoping for the best while mixing random essential oils together. They in fact master scents. Once a scent is mastered over a very long period of time (sometimes years) they create an abundance of products that share that mastered scent.

I had fallen head over heels in love with the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream and I needed more of its kind. The Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon that I had always disregarded for bigger alternatives suddenly become my most wanted item, I couldn’t get to my local Lush quick enough! Luckily for me, both the shower cream and the bubbleroon are now staple store product so I will never run out of either.

yuzu-cocoa-plusAll of the bubbleroons had a huge makeover in 2015, I haven’t got a photograph of the old versions to show you for comparison purposes, you’ll just have to take my word for it. The makeover was a massive improvement. The photo above is how they currently are now.

You can get 3 maybe 4 baths out of one bubbleroon. I like to however spread mine over 2 baths just because I love everything about the product so much. The scent, the way it makes my skin feel, it’s so beautiful.

The smallest amount of Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon creates a very generous amount of fluffy white, silky soft bubbles. Its citrus scent combined with its, cocoa-butter-chocolatey undertone makes it the perfect mood lifter. I seem to reach for the Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon when I am on a diet too. Using it takes the edge off of my cravings for chocolate and cake.  It’s obviously not the same as eating a nice slab of chocolate cake but, it helps the cravings a little.

The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is amazing, laying in a bubble bath full of this bubbleroon is like floating around in a sea of Jaffa Cakes. It really is my idea of heaven. The only thing that could improve it is if I was presented with a box of Jaffa Cakes every time I crumbled a bit of Yuzu and Cocoa in the bath.

Another great thing about this bubbleroon is how good it is for your skin. All of the cocoa and shea butter in it helps hydrate my skin effortlessly. You can literally feel your skin drinking up all of the gorgeous butters. A soak in a Yuzu and Cocoa bath moisturises your skin so well that there is no need to moisturise once you get out of the bath.

I hope that Lush soon come up with more products in the Yuzu and Cocoa scent. I’d love a dusting powder or a body conditioner, both of those would be staple products in my bathroom without a doubt.
