The Comforter Shower Cream from Lush

The Comforter Shower Cream.png

The Comforter Shower Cream shares its scent with the much loved, The Comforter bubble bar. When I first got into Lush I had no idea that Lush Cosmetics made their own unique scents, I didn’t even know that the most popular scents were used in several different product formats. This was the case until I one day see that the Twilight bath bomb had a shower gel equivalent. Once I learnt about Lush’s scent families my need to try everything grew out of control, hence this blog!

Much like the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream, The Comforter is a gloriously thick and velvety formula. I hope that Lush decide to expand their collection of shower creams in the foreseeable future as the creams feel so much more luxurious on the skin in comparison to the shower gels. Not that I dislike Lush’s shower gels, the creams are just in my opinion that little bit more of a treat.

Just like the Bubble Bar of the same name, The Comforter shower cream is a vibrant, hot-pink colour. At first I wasn’t that sold on the shower cream’s scent. I thought it was a lot stronger than the bubble bar equivalent and I actually gave my first barely used bottle to my friend before I’d even given it a proper chance.

I love to join in on all of the Lush discussions on Instagram or Facebook and one day The Comforter shower cream was the topic of conversation. I mentioned that I adored the bubble bar but couldn’t get as excited about it when it came down to the shower cream because of how strong its scent was. A fellow Lushie told me to try it again, keeping in mind how lovely it will make my skin smell once I was out of the shower.

I therefore tried it again promising myself that I would give it more of a chance this  time, the scent was still stronger than the bubble bar but I realised it wasn’t an offensive strong. Once the shower cream was mixed in with the hot shower water I actually see (or should I say smelt) the shower cream in a whole new light.

Just like the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream, The Comforter’s scent remains on your skin all day, it’s a very gentle scent on your skin and one that I have grown to love. The Comforter has as the name suggests a very comforting scent, packed with cassis absolute and blackberry infusion it’s BERRY nice. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist…)

The cassis and blackberry ingredients alongside the vanilla and bergamot is what makes the scent of this shower cream so very inviting. Washing with it really is like being wrapped up in a warm and snuggly hug. The Comforter shower cream also contains almond oil which is a bonus if your skin is in need of some extra hydration. The shower creams are always my go to when my skin needs a little bit of extra TLC.

Another thing I feel is worth mentioning before I finish this review is that a little of the product goes a very long way, (if you’re not as gluttonous with it as my husband is anyway.)

The Comforter shower cream lasts well beyond its shelf life too, after 6 months plus it will need a bit of a shake in between uses because the ingredients in it will naturally begin to separate but after a quick shake, it goes back to it being as good as new.

I am so glad that I was convinced to try this product out again as I really like it now. I am always looking for new Comforter scented products to add to my ever growing collection. I hope they bring back the solid perfume again soon as I bitterly regret not picking one of them up when they were available.

Sunflower Bubble Bar from Lush

Sunflower Bubble Bar WM

The first thing that I noticed about the Sunflower Bubble Bar was its sheer size. It’s a whale of a bubble bar and to this day I think it is still one of the biggest Lush products I’ve ever owned. When I found myself in front of the huge pile of them in Oxford Street I couldn’t help but ‘oooooo!’. Back in the Mother’s Day period of 2016, the Sunflower bubble bar was a product that was exclusive to Lush’s flagship store. It did feature in some gift sets but it was only available to purchase on its own at Oxford Street.

Back then this bubble bar was one of the most sought after and popular cosmetic products on the market, I was lost for words when it didn’t make a return for Mother’s Day 2017.

A lot of 2016’s Mother’s Day products had a citrus element to them of some sort. I can only assume that this was a conscious decision on Lush’s part to add a bit of happiness and zing to our Spring. Although I quite like the idea of a variety of different scents, citrus scents are one of my favourites so I didn’t complain, the more citrus products to get me through the week the better!

When I first see the Sunflower bubble bar on Instagram I assumed it would be a floral or grassy scented product, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The bubble bar’s scent is lemon through and through, it’s a beautiful scent, just zesty enough to help refresh and revive your mind, body and soul without blowing your head off.

Lush have perfectly captured a real life sun flower within this bubble bar. Its warm yellow and orange tones alongside the light decoration of scattered sunflower petals reflects upon summer so adequately that it takes your mind straight to a day of sunshine, clear blue skies and bird song.

A little of this product also goes a very long way when making bubbles with the Sun Flower bubble bar. At first I thought maybe its larger size compromised for its ability to supply you with good quality bubbles but I was wrong.

Yet again Lush have made a product that is not only the best of quality but also of great value. For one product this bubble bar might appear to be a little pricey but considering you can get 6 plus generously bubbled and highly scented bubble baths out of it, it really is a perfect product in every which way possible.

Going back to what I said earlier about the Sun Flower bubble bar not coming back for Mother’s Day 2017. Even though this year’s Mother’s Day range has now been and gone I am still in complete disbelief about Sun Flower not being a part of the range this year. In my original review of it back in 2016 I said that I wanted it to stay as a permanent product, I still stand by this statement as it’s quite simply too good a product to not have on tap.

Luckily, the Lush Kitchen are making a small batch of them on the 18th of this month, this is what has prompted me to update my review on it, TAA DA! – I hope that Lush decide to bring it back as at least an Oxford Street exclusive at some point as the Sunflower bubble bar really is one of Lush’s best products to date.

Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub from Lush

Back when Lush Cosmetics was shiny and new to me, the first lip scrub from there that I tried was the Bubblegum lip scrub. I was seduced by its bright pink colour and until I actually tried it I had no idea of the true potential of Lush lip scrubs.

I use Lush lip scrubs all the time as I have an awful habit of biting my lips in my sleep. They are a quick and easy way to exfoliate dry or chapped lips; For everyday use or just for prepping your lips before adding a splash of colour.

No other lip scrubs exfoliate, hydrate and soften my lips better. I’m not sure what makes the Lush ones so much better than the rest performance wise, they just all seem to do the trick and with minimum effort too, (which is always a plus when you’re trying to keep up with the fast pace of the world we live in today!)

Today I am reviewing the Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub that was originally released in the Lush Kitchen back in August 2016. Luckily for those that missed it, as of the 10th of March it will be available for a limited time in the UK as it has been chosen as the leading lip product in Lush’s 2017 Easter range.Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub.pngThe Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub has the most amazing scent. What first hits you on the opening of this mini jar is pure CHOCOLATE. Predictable? yes, but it is literally like a creation from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, there’s just something so special about it.

Alongside the chocolate there are also hints of orange, it really reminds me of Terry’s Chocolate Orange and when I think of that I think of Christmas!

The main ingredient in Lush lip scrubs is caster sugar, it’s amazing how something so basic and natural can do such a good job at exfoliating. The fact that it is so good makes me question other companies that make products for the purpose of exfoliation, in particular those that use unnatural ingredients such as plastic microbeads…

Not only do they not work as well but they also do more harm than good to our environment.

There is a very interesting article written about the use of microbeads in cosmetics on the Lush website, the full article can be found here. For the purpose of this review I have pulled a short paragraph from it to better explain the problems with using unnatural ingredients in cosmetics.

‘Environmental Audit Committee Chair Mary Creagh MP said: “Trillions of tiny pieces of plastic are accumulating in the world’s oceans, lakes and estuaries, harming marine life and entering the food chain. The microbeads in scrubs, shower gels and toothpastes are an avoidable part of this plastic pollution problem. A single shower can result in 100,000 plastic particles entering the ocean.”

Not only do Lush’s natural products work but they also help us maintain a healthy planet. Sometimes less is more and if all of the ingredients are natural and cruelty free, even better!chocolate lIP Scrub 2To use Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub, put the smallest amount onto your finger then gently buff onto your lips. The sugar helps smooth any bits of your lips that don’t appear perfectly polished, (dead or dry skin being the most popular culprit).

Once you have finished buffing your lips I then add a dab of Lush lip balm (Rose Lollipop being my current weapon of choice.)

The sugar lip scrubs are also in fact great for moisturising the lips because of the jojoba oil in them. I however like to finish off with an extra layer of lip balm just so that I keep on top of having beautifully hydrated lips. Lush Sugar scrubs and lip balm really are the winning combination of lip products for soft, smooth and kissable lips.

If you haven’t tried a Lush Sugar lip scrub yet then please do. You won’t be able to live without it and you’ll want to collect them all!
