Intergalactic Shower Gel from Lush

I am not ashamed to admit that I screamed the house down when I first heard that Lush were releasing an Intergalactic scented limited edition shower gel. The Intergalactic bath bomb is one of my all time favourite Lush products and I have been hoping that Lush would create and release other Intergalactic scented products ever since I first tried the bath bomb back in 2015.

The Intergalactic Shower Gel is a beautiful shade of blue and is decorated with a generous sprinkling of lustre. Colour wise it’s a lighter blue than the bath bomb, it almost has an aqua-green tinge.

Below is a photo of a small blob of the shower gel on a white background. The photo does the shower gel no justice at all, you really, really have to see it in all its sparkly glory for yourself.

 

Containing peppermint, grapefruit, vetivert and cedar wood oil, the Intergalactic shower gels scent leaves you feeling positively refreshed. Just like the bath bomb the ingredient that stands out to me the most scent wise is the peppermint.

When I first smelt the shower gel straight from the bottle I must admit I was a little disappointed. It was similar to the Intergalactic bath bomb but not quite the same, the only way I can describe it is that it seemed to be a lot more peppery and dry.

Once I however got the chance to use the Intergalactic shower gel its scent mixed with the hot water and steam washed away all of the disappointment I had felt. Its scent during in use smells just like the bath bomb, it couldn’t be more alike.

Consistency wise the Intergalactic shower gel is just how I like it, not so thick that you can hardly get it out of the bottle and not too thin that you lose it all at the slightest tip of the bottle. A little amount of the shower gel goes a very long way so is very good value for money,  I was also really pleased with how easily it lathered up.

Its scent didn’t last on my skin for as long as the bath bomb does but it was still there for a good few hours. It wasn’t particularly moistursing but it didn’t leave my skin dry either. An Intergalactic body lotion to use after it would be absolutely perfect. Hint, hint Lush… 😉

Over all I am really happy with the Intergalactic shower gel. The Intergalactic scent works so well in the shower gel format, I’m in shock that Lush hadn’t released it long before now. I have my fingers crossed that this limited edition shower gel becomes a permanent product at some point, it’s that good!

Calm a Llama Party Piñata Bath Bomb

Today I’m very happy to be writing up my review on the Calm A Llama Party Piñata Bath Bomb. I have had my eye on this product ever since the opening day at Lush’s shiny new flagship store in Liverpool.

Up until very recently this bath bomb was only available as an in-store-party exclusive at the flagship Liverpool store. Now it’s available in every store as a part of an in-store-party.

More information on the in store parties can be found on the Lush website. I’ve never personally been to one but once I do, I will be sure to let you know all about them on here!

Last month, Lush actually released a very limited amount of the Calm A Llama Party Piñata bath bombs on their UK website.

For the customers who aren’t lucky enough to live near a store or those like me who haven’t had the time to book a party, this made quite a few Lush customers day.

Sadly the online party stock did sell out very quickly BUT if this bath bomb was easy to get, it wouldn’t be much of an exclusive would it?

The Calm A Llama Party Piñata bath bomb shares its scent with one of my favourite shower gels, Calacas. Normally the Calacas scent dominates the Halloween period and doesn’t get much of a look in at any other time of the year.

Featuring in several Halloween products over the years (the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb being another personal favourite of mine) seeing (or should I say smelling) the Calacas scent outside of the Halloween period makes me a very happy Lushie.

The Calm A Llama Party Piñatas scent is both energising and uplifting. With its lime, frankincense and neroli mix the Calacas scent is a sharp and zesty mood-boosting-fragrance, making it perfect for a Lush party!

After its gorgeous scent the next things that I noticed about the Calm A Llama Party Piñata bath bomb was its huge size, you can see how big it is compared to my hand in a few photos above. After its size I then noticed its pretty pastel colouring. The Llamas head is yellow, its body orange and its legs pink.

As the Calm A Llama Party Piñata bath bomb hits the water an explosion of pastel yellow, orange and pink burst out of it. It’s a fairly slow fizzer and also contains popping candy although I hardly noticed it.

I did also expect much better bath art than I got, it was however a very pretty bath and the scent lasted through out and on my skin afterwards. The water left behind was a deep shade of orange.

Once out of the bath my skin was left feeling silky smooth as well as incredibly hydrated. Its scent was also still noticeable on my skin, it isn’t quite as strong a scent left behind by the likes of the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb, it’s much more subtle.

Overall I did really enjoy using the Calm A Llama Party Piñata bath bomb, I would have however been a lot happier if the bath bomb had featured all of the same colours as the ones displayed in the Liverpool store on their opening day. The ones that were available online are missing the colours blue and green.

The bath art I imagine would have been a bit more exciting had Lush decided to keep the Calm A Llama Party Piñata bath bomb as a 5 coloured bomb instead of changing it to just 3.

Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Jelly from Lush

The Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Jelly is one of 9, limited edition shower jellies voted for, for release by the Lush community a few months ago. If you’re one of the thousands of people that miss the very much discontinued Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream, then this shower jelly equivalent will most certainly fill the void it has left in your Lush-life.

To this day I am still completely taken aback at Lush’s decision to discontinue everything Yuzu and Cocoa, especially the gorgeous Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon. The loss of both the shower cream and the bubbleroon did however make the news of a shower jelly equivalent being released all the more exciting!

The Yuzu and Cocoa fragrance is one of my favourite Lush scents, the only way I can describe it is ‘wonderfully chocolatey’ and just like a fresh packet of Jaffa cakes. If you love to eat orange chocolate then I recommend trying ALL of the products that share the Yuzu and Cocoa scent.

The Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly is a beautiful mix of yellow and honey shades. As you can see in the photo above it has a mix of yellow and warm amber tones in it, its mix of colours remind me of the Twilight shower jelly which is also made with a blend of swirling colours through it.

Sadly I find that the shower jellies that aren’t all one colour tend to break up / show wear and tear a lot quicker. After 3 uses my Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly had started to lose its shape and robusticity. Quite the opposite of the single-coloured shower jellies also chosen by the Lush Community like Yummy Mummy.

There are so many ways to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time. With the Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly being slightly more fragile-a-jelly than I am used to using as a whole, the chopping method is in my opinion the best way to get the most out of this particular shower jelly.

The Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly lathers up quickly, its scent is just as good as I remember the shower cream being both in the pot and in use. The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is incredibly versatile, I am yet to come across a product format that it hasn’t worked in.

Apart from the Yuzu and Cocoa shower jellies delicacy, I really can’t fault the shower jelly. It’s just as creamy as its shower cream equivalent and its scent lasts on my skin through out the best part of the day after using it too.

Normally shower jellies can be quite drying on my skin, the Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly however leaves my skin soft and positively refreshed. It isn’t hugely moisturising but doesn’t leave me desperate to coat myself in body lotion either. Overall I believe that it is a wonderful addition to the Yuzu and Cocoa product family!
