Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream from Lush

When I first got into Lush I was so focused on the bath bombs and bubble bars that the other products didn’t really have much of a chance to impress me. Bath bombs, bubble bars and shower jellies are unique to Lush, there’s not many other cosmetic companies that specialise in them and it’s those 3 specific, quirky products that initially got me into their store in the first place.

After I had pretty much exhausted every choice of bubble bar and bath bomb currently available at Lush I decided to try some more of their products. – Enter the Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream.

I knew of the Yuzu and Cocoa scent from the yellow bubbleroon that goes by the same name, I thought it had a beautiful scent but I always favoured the bigger bubble bars as I felt they were better value for money. When the flagship Lush store in Oxford Street opened their doors for the very first time one of its exclusive products was the Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream.

As liquid shower products go, the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream is slightly thicker in consistency to others I have tried before, a little however goes a very long way. The tiniest of drops can clean my whole body as well as keeping my skin soft and well hydrated – there is no need to moisturise after using this.

The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is amazing, it’s like swimming in a sea of Jaffa Cakes. It really is my idea of heaven. My mum was pushing me around Sainsbury’s once and I had used the shower cream earlier that day, I noticed that I could really smell the box of jaffa cakes on the shelf, it wasn’t until a little while later when we were in the freezer section that I thought to myself wow I can still smell the jaffa cakes, I then realised it was in fact me that smelt like jaffa cakes! The Yuzu and Cocoa scent stays with you ALL DAY, I haven’t come across another Lush scent that lasts so long, it truly is beautiful.

Packed with tonka, grapefruit and bergamot oils Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream is the perfect pick me up product, I always find using it lifts my mood. Since discovering Lush I have completely changed my mind set on grapefruit. Growing up I hated it but for some reason, every product that Lush creates with grapefruit in really, really impresses my nose. So there you go, Lush have persuaded me to break a habit of a lifetime, I now, thanks to this shower cream and the Frozen Bath Bomb, have a level of appreciation for grapefruit that I have never had before.

Lush Kitchen really need to make a whole load more Yuzu and Cocoa scented products as the bubbleroon and shower cream just isn’t enough for me any more, I NEED MORE! Imagine a Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly or body lotion, wow.

You have got to try the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream at least once, it is now also available in all Lush stores not just Oxford Street!  there really isn’t an excuse to not try it now, do it! you will not regret it.

May Day Bath Bomb from Lush #VotesForAnimals

May Day Bath BombThe May Day Bath Bomb has a badgers face. A lot of people say that they can not make it out but I can and I think it is a really clever and interesting design.

For every May Day bath bomb sold by Lush, proceeds (minus VAT) goes towards the activist groups behind the ‘Votes For Animals’ campaign.

I bought the May Day bath bomb as I love the idea of donating towards something good, especially something that is doing wonderful things for animals. In this not so fair world animals like so many other unfortunate things do not have a voice, as an invisible illness and disability activist I can relate to this. It makes me feel very uncomfortable when I realise that although I sometimes feel as if I am lost in the world due to my disability that I can in fact shout about it, I can write a post like this on the internet, animals can however not.

To look at, the May Day bath bomb is quite plain. I have heard people refer to it as ‘ugly’ when comparing it to other Lush bath bombs. Although it isn’t the prettiest of bath bombs, it is bright, has a very clean white and neat appearance and has an amazingly refreshing scent. Not all bath bombs are meant to be drop, dead gorgeous. It’s what is inside that counts.

The scent for this bath bomb surprised me, I thought it would be as subtle as its presentation is plain. I was wrong as always, never judge a bath bomb until you’ve used it at least once. May Day has a lovely sherbet smell as well as notes of bergamot, rosewood and fennel oil, making it an incredibly fresh, outdoorsy and somewhat fruity treat.

May Day is not a great choice if you’re looking for a colourful bath, I however loved it without all of the theatrics as I found its scent both uplifting and very refreshing.

Once in the bath I felt instantly relaxed, my skin was well and truly moisturised. My only upset for this bath bomb was how quickly it disappeared, for its size it dissolved very quickly in comparison to others I have previously used. It however made for a beautiful bath, it was a real treat for my skin and was clearly working some sort of magic well after I had left the tub.

Once the bath bomb is no more, you are greeted with a small piece of paper as seen in the photo below. This is a great way to spread awareness and money for a very deserving charity. Well done Lush.

Bubblegum Lip Scrub from Lush

bubblegum lip scrub

When I very first see the little pot of Bubblegum Lip Scrubs in amongst the others I knew it was the one I wanted to try first. I didn’t care what it smelt or tasted like, I just had to have it. It’s such a shockingly bright pink and with pink being my favourite colour it made sense for me to try Bubblegum before any of the others.

Lush lip scrubs come in the dinkiest of jars, don’t let the small size of them put you off though, each pot really does go a long, long way and each individual jar are always filled to the brim too.

The main ingredient in all of Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. Bubblegum in particular has a very short list of ingredients, caster sugar and jojoba oil; When I see how basic the ingredients list I wasn’t expecting amazing results but tried it nonetheless.

Comparing the Bubblegum lip scrub to other brands of lip scrubs I have used, I would say that it is most certainly the best at exfoliating my lips. I am so, so impressed at the results it gives. I now choose Lush lip scrubs over all others not only because of the quality and instant results but because of Lush’s ethical buying policies too.

Bubblegum lip scrub gives instant results and with minimum effort. The fact that it is better for the environment (no micro plastics!) and better for you in regards to its natural ingredients etc is just an added bonus and one that we should all be more conscious about as we only have one life and one planet.

I have really bad, rough lips (or should I say had).  After the very first use of this Lush product my lips felt and looked in a much better condition. Using it daily has further shown me amazing results, I now have the confidence to wear lip colour.

I have read that some people have eaten their Bubblegum lip scrub, So far I have restrained myself from doing the same. In all seriousness, it’s obviously not meant to be eaten but if a bit does end up in your mouth in the process of scrubbing your lips with it, don’t worry, you’re not going to die.

I am so, so excited with all of the wonderful products that Lush have on offer and look forward to reviewing more on my blog here very soon. I’d also be very interested in your own personal opinions on the Bubblegum lip scrub, let me know below! ☺️
