Snow Queen Bath Bomb from Lush

The Snow Queen Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2024 Christmas line and I was fortunate enough to receive one as a gift from Lush.

It is described by Lush as a ‘Queen frozen by Winter that will thaw in warm waters.’

Snow Queen is an icy blue, queen-shaped bath bomb with a crown, wavy hair and a long flowing dress that is decorated with snowflakes; It screams cold and icy, fitting right into the theme of Winter.

It is a beautifully made bath bomb, whose colouring and regalness perfectly capture the Snow Queen’s frosty charm!

At 90g each the Snow Queen is one of Lush’s smaller Winter bath bombs BUT never assume with bath bombs that bigger is better…

Some of the ingredients included in the Snow Queen bath bomb are agar agar, peppermint oil, bergamot oil, sweet wild orange oil and dried lilac cornflowers.

A lot of people say anything with peppermint oil in it smells the same, no matter what other ingredients it has mixed with it. With peppermint being such a dominant ingredient fragrance wise, I can see (or should I say, smell) what people mean.

It’s very difficult to pinpoint other ingredients when peppermint is involved but with the Snow Queen bath bomb it does have other noticeable yet subtle scent notes.

You get the coolness of the peppermint primarily but then the orange oil adds a sweetness and then the bergamot a bitterness, it rounds off the mintyness giving it less clout. As peppermint based fragrances go it is quite complex and, in my opinion, quite an acquired taste but one I have grown to love.

I make it no secret that sleepiness is a huge part of my personality, minty products are therefore perfect for me as there’s nothing like them to wake you up.

Many people like to save minty products for the Summer because of their cooling effect, but I love how they wake me up—even in the Winter. With the Snow Queen’s scent not being as powerful menthol wise, it’s a good alternative for this time of year (just in case you didn’t want to feel too cool!)

As soon as the Snow Queen bath bomb touches the water it begins to fizz away, releasing a thin stream of blue foam that in places turn green. (see below photo). The blue to green is a little trick Lush have added to this bath bomb, the green colour is inside the agar agar and as the agar gets wet, the green is released.

Even with the added green specs Snow Queen isn’t going to give you much bath art but as the bath bomb fizzes away a very small amount of dried lilac cornflowers are also released into the water. For those customers that do not like to bathe with ‘bits’ I have good news, it’s a very small amount of flowers making clean up a breeze.

The Snow Queen bath bomb was a very fast fizzer taking only three minutes to fully dissolve. Left behind is the most gorgeous turquoise/marine green coloured bath water.

Looking at the bath bomb beforehand, I thought the water would be an icy blue colour but the secret green in the bath bomb made it a stunning shade of marine green.

After leaving the bath, my skin felt smooth, appeared brighter and I felt really refreshed. The scent wasn’t really detectable anymore but its effects on my skin lasted.

I thoroughly enjoyed using the Snow Queen bath bomb and would happily pick it up again while it’s still available. Its unique scent blend, refreshing effects, and vibrant marine green bath water make it a standout in this year’s Christmas range!

Sleepy Bear Shower Gel from Lush

The Sleepy Bear Shower Gel is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2024 Christmas line.

I can’t quite believe how many new shower gels Lush have released this year, it’s been an incredible year for shower gels, so many have come out that I still have several to review before the year is through!

With the shower gel I am reviewing today being called Sleepy Bear, you’d expect it to share its scent with the Sleepy Bear bath bomb, it however doesn’t. The Sleepy Bear shower gel in fact shares its scent with the Deep Sleep bath bomb.

Lush already have a shower gel available that shares its scent with the Sleepy Bear bath bomb, the Sleepy shower gel. I have no idea why Lush decided to call this shower gel Sleepy Bear and not Deep Sleep, but here we are…

The Sleepy Bear shower gel contains some of the following ingredients: fine sea salt, lavender oil, chamomile oil, lavender absolute and neroli oil.

Fresh from the bottle the Sleepy Bear shower gels scent is best described as lavender rich with a touch of chamomile. The neroli oil in it is also quite noticeable although it isn’t nearly as intense as the lavender. The fragrance is very sweet and herbal.

Think of the Deep Sleep Lush-scent-family as another amazing lavender based fragrance that is available to try, if you’ve grown bored of Sleepy…

The Sleepy Bear shower gel is a sparkly darker shade of purple (not dissimilar to Goddess shower gel) it has quite a thick consistency but is very easy to get out of the bottle.

A very small amount of the Sleepy Bear shower gel goes a long way, something I wasn’t expecting considering its consistency. Mixed with the water it lathers up with minimal effort creating a violet-white foam that simply glides over your skin leaving it soft, refreshed and clean.

Mixed in with the steam and hot-shower-water the scent really takes over your bathroom, if you thought that the Sleepy shower gel was great to use before bed, then you’ll be blown away with the Sleepy Bear shower gel…

After use the Sleepy Bear scent remains on your skin for several hours. Although I still believe it’s a mostly lavender scent, on your skin the chamomile elements come through a lot stronger than straight out of the bottle.

Overall, it’s a great edition to the list of many shower gels that have been created by Lush this year; It also makes a welcome change from the Sleepy shower gel!

Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb from Lush (2024)

The much loved Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb is back again and this year I was lucky enough to be gifted one by Lush.

Since the Sleepy Bear bath bombs debut in Lush’s 2021 Winter line, it has been a favourite amongst customers returning every Winter. This year the Sleepy Bear bath bomb however has a brand new look!

The older version of the Sleepy Bear bath bomb was white and made in the shape of a bear lying flat on its stomach. It was a simple design with a sprinkling of purple petals on its bum/back.

This new version of the Sleepy Bear bath bomb is still quite simple, it’s all white but is in the shape of a bear sat upright.

Customers that don’t like ‘bits’ in their bath water will be pleased to hear that the purple petals have gone, instead the new Sleepy Bear bath bomb has the same magical ingredient as the Iconic Door bath bomb that turns the white parts of the bath bomb blue once wet. I’m not sure of the exact science behind it but it’s incredible to watch in action!

The Sleepy Bear bath bomb may look different from its older version, but it smells the same. Both versions are a part of the Twilight/Sleepy Lush-scent-family.

Lush’s Sleepy range is huge and because of its ‘magical sleeping properties’ happens to be one of Lush’s most sought after scent families.

The masses will be pleased to hear that yes, the Sleepy Bear bath bomb does share its scent with the Sleepy body lotion and Twilight bath bomb.

The Sleepy Bear bath bomb is approximately 90g each, I always really enjoy using the smaller bath bombs like Sleepy Bear as they are just as good as the larger sized bath bombs but are better value for money.

If you’ve read any of my Lush product reviews before now, you’d know I always have a soft spot for the products that are made into characters (i.e. any Lush product that has eyes…) With the Sleepy Bear having eyes, hair tufts, a big nose, a mouth and four little paws, I just couldn’t resist it as hard as I tried!

The Sleepy Bear bath bomb contains lavender oil, benzoin resinoid, tonka absolute, ylang ylang oil and fine oatmeal.

The scent is perfect to help you wind down at the end of a long day.

After just one sniff you’ll understand why everything that Lush release in the Sleepy fragrance becomes a best seller.

As soon as the Sleepy Bear bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a ferocious hiss, white bubbles sizzle out of the bath bomb, then blue spots of colour begin to appear where the white once was.

The small blue spots of colour become more noticeable as the bath bomb dissolves. The shade of blue is a similar shade to what the Ickle Baby Bot bath bomb is.

For such a small bath bomb the Sleepy Bears’ scent is incredibly strong and just as powerful as the larger sized, Twilight bath bomb.

The Sleepy Bear bath bomb is also a very quick fizzer, it takes only four minutes to completely dissolve giving you plenty of time to lay back and soak up the relaxing lavender, tonka absolute and oatmeal infused waters, it feels like you’re floating on a lavender scented cloud.

The water left behind looks like a blue cloudy sky (see below photo) but I have to admit hydration wise, the Sleepy Bear bath bomb isn’t nearly as moisturising as the older version of the Sleepy Bear bath bomb.

Once out of the bath, my skin does feel soft but not nearly as moisturised as it normally does after using a Lush bath bomb, luckily I had some Sleepy body lotion so could add a little extra hydration to my skin without taking away from the Sleepy Bear bath bombs scent.

The first time that I used the Sleepy Bear bath bomb I didn’t get a chance to use the Sleepy body lotion too until the morning after.

Without using the Sleepy Body lotion, the scent was still noticeable on my skin the following morning. Obviously, using the Sleepy body lotion immediately after helped carry the scent well into the next day after using it too.

I always drift off to sleep so much easier after I’ve used a Sleepy scented Lush product before bed. If you’re looking for a product to help you relax, I’d recommend trying the Sleepy Bear bath bomb.

Overall, the only thing that seemed to let this bath bomb down was how drying it was on my skin. Other than that, though, I think it is a good price and plain enough to gift it to someone who may be on the fence about trying Lush.
