Mum Bath Bomb from Lush

The Mum Bath Bomb is brand new to Lush Cosmetics. It has been created and released as a part of their limited edition Mother’s day range for 2017, it comes in 2 different colours, both however share the same scent.

When I see the Mum bath bombs smaller size I admit that I was a little disheartened, not because I was disappointed but because it wasn’t a Lush product that had me ‘Oooing’ on first glimpse. Sometimes a newly released product stops me in my tracks, the Mum bath bomb however didn’t. Regardless of this, I really liked the pastel colours each design had and decided to grab one of each.

Decorated in pastel pink, yellow and green colours the Mum bath bomb suits this time of year perfectly. The colours are not too in your face but are bright enough to give off a Spring time vibe. Just big enough to fill the palm of my super-tiny hands, the Mum bath bomb although small made quite the impression on me once placed into the water. What really surprised me about the Mum bath bomb was how its scent changed once in the bath tub.

Before using it, the Mum bath bomb’s scent wasn’t one I got particularly excited about. Sometimes a bath bomb smells so good that you can’t wait to share a bath with it. Some others however don’t get my heart racing in quite the same way. Holding the Mum bath bomb in my hand I honestly wasn’t that sold on the scent. All I could really detect with my nose was a very peppery-sweet, floral fragrance.

Once in the bath the bath bomb’s scent however comes alive. The Sicilian lemon and sweet orange oil take over the floral tones making it have a zesty-sweet fragrance. It is at this point that I decided that I had totally underestimated the Mum bath bomb.

As I had expected, this bath bomb was a very quick fizzer. Some people however prefer the quicker ones so this could be a positive or negative trait, above and below are 3 pictures of the 2 bath bombs in action. Up top is the green one with pink writing and down below is the green one with yellow writing.

Like many of the smaller bath bombs, Mum doesn’t leave my skin as silky smooth and hydrated as I have grown used to while using others such as, the Blackberry or Fizzbanger. The scent of it however stays with you long after getting out of the bath, leaving your skin lightly fragranced for hours and hours.

My skin isn’t too dry so the fact that this bath bomb isn’t super hydrating isn’t much of a problem for me, I could maybe see it being a problem for someone with dryer skin though. For those with dry skin, or even those that just want a more hydrating experience I recommend using the Mum bath bomb alongside a bubble bar. There’s a long list of them to choose from, right now I am however enjoying the Mum bath bomb paired with the Baa Bar bubble bar.

This next sentence is going to leave me at risk of sounding like a complete kill-joy but I feel I have to mention it. With the Mum bath bomb it is crystal clear that this product is for Mother’s day. Although I love and celebrate the day myself, I can’t help but miss last year’s products as they weren’t so in your face with MUM, MUM, MUM. By all means it has an excellent design and it isn’t exclusive to just mums, absolutely anyone can use it, I just feel as if something not so obviously ‘mum orientated’ would have sold better. Regardless of this I still stand by it being a really good bath bomb.

Once it has all dissolved a yellow and pink note floats to the surface, it reads, ‘Thanks MUM’. This is a very sweet touch that I wasn’t expecting at all. Overall the Mum bath bomb has really impressed me, I wasn’t expecting much but once in the bath it well and truly out-did what I had expected of it.

For such a small bath bomb it sure has some go and although it’s not a bath art type of product, its scent is beautifully fresh and it has got me more than ready for the Spring time.

Flutterby Bubble Bar from Lush

flutterby-taggedThe Flutterby Bubble Bar was a Mother’s Day, Oxford Street exclusive back in 2016. I will apologise now for the lateness of this review, I honestly thought I had reviewed it, I tried to link it to another review a couple of weeks ago and that’s when I realised that I hadn’t actually done it, whoops!

Flutterby is a hot pink and white bubble bar decorated with a butterfly on its top. Colour wise it could easily be confused for the, The Comforter bubble bar. Lush products are always sorted into scent families and the Flutterby bubble bar is a part of the Yummy, Yummy, Yummy family.

The Yummy, Yummy, Yummy scent features in a variety of some of the most popular Lush products. The Roller bath bomb, Yummy Mummy shower cream and Peeping Santa bubbleroon to name a few.

What first impressed me about the Flutterby bubble bar was its size. I had no idea that it would be so big and bulky. It certainly wouldn’t be lost if placed alongside the extra large bubble bars such as Brightside.

I was and still am also very impressed with its scent. Back when I first got it I couldn’t get enough of its creamy, sweet and strawberry-esque fragrance. As a rule, I always try to use Lush products as fresh as possible as the fresher a product is, the better it performs.

I really, really liked the Flutterby bubble bar and I stocked up on it before Mother’s day 2016 was over. I haven’t seen anything official that says it is coming back this year which I am really disappointed about, luckily I still have a few left and even over a year later they all still smell and work as if they were brand new. WINNING!

Crumbling Flutterby under a running tap produces mounds and mounds of soft and fluffy white bubbles, underneath those bubbles Flutterby also turns your bath water the most gorgeous shade of pink. As soon as you get in the bath your skin begins to soak up all of the benefits this bubble bar offers.

Jam packed with tonka, geranium and Brazilian orange oil Flutterby comforts, softens and tones your skin while also soothing tired or aching muscles. You can easily get 4 or 5 generously bubbled baths out of just the one Flutterby bubble bar.

This bubble bar has a very versatile scent making it perfect for bath cocktails, it works especially well with the citrus and floral products. I hope Flutterby comes out in the Lush Kitchen this year as it’s such a beautiful product that I would really like to stock up on once again.

Frog Prince Bath Bomb from Lush

I can never resist trying out the mini seasonal bath bombs like Frog Prince. The small, character shaped bath bombs are more of a novelty to me, I however like to stock up on them as they make for excellent ingredients for some great Lush-bath-cocktails.

Other great character bath bombs that are of a similar size are Ickle Baby Bot, Spring Bunny and Butterbear.

The Frog Prince bath bomb has a floral scent that epitomises Valentine’s Day perfectly. It’s rich with jasmine, rose and ylang ylang oil and although I am not always a fan of the floral products the Frog Prince is one that I do enjoy using.

Frog Prince is a very green, frog shaped product that flaunts bright red bath-melt lips. Once placed in the water, the Frog Prince bath bomb starts to fizzle away sending small jets of green fizz across the water.

Considering its smaller size, I was very surprised that the Frog Prince bath bomb took a lot longer to fully dissolve than I had expected. The bright red lips are visible throughout and with a pout that Angelina Jolie would be jealous of there’s no guessing why…

Once the frog has fully dissolved the lips begin to melt. As the lips slowly bob around the water they create pretty red swirls that stand out like a neon sign up against the green tinted water.

Again, for such a small bath bomb I was amazed at how moisturising it was on my skin. The smaller bath bombs aren’t normally as hydrating as the larger ones so this was an unexpected surprise.

The last surprise from this bath bomb is the hidden note you get in it. I found a note with a picture of Lush Kitchen’s Sam on it, it says ‘Princess Sam was made to kiss you,’  It is such a cute touch to a lovely bath bomb.

I know I said at the start of this review that I like to get the smaller bath bombs such as the Frog Prince because I like to use them in Lush cocktails, Frog Prince however does work really well on its own. For such a small bath bomb it really is very, very impressive!
