Intergalactic Bubble Bar from Lush

I can’t believe it has taken until the very end of 2023 for Lush to finally create the Intergalactic Bubble Bar. Now it is here, I can’t quite find the right words to explain how happy its release has made me!

The Intergalactic Lush-scent-family started its Lush life in the form of the Intergalactic bath bomb

Back in 2015, it was an Oxford Street store exclusive; available from only one Lush store in the world, I used to have to beg people to pick it up and post it to me. Thankfully, those days are over as it is now available everywhere and is one of Lush’s best-selling bath bombs of all time.

The Intergalactic bubble bar is made in the same way as the Brightside and The Comforter bubble bars.

However, instead of having just two different colours of bubble bar rolled together to create that perfect swirl that the bubble bars I mentioned above are famous for, the Intergalactic bubble bar is made (much like the bath bomb equivalent) with three different colours: Blue, pink, and yellow.

During the process of making the Intergalactic bubble bar, the blue, pink and yellow bubble bar doughs meet as they are rolled together. After they have been put together you can see greens, oranges, and purples at the parts where the different colours of the bubble bars touch.

It’s a perfect, rainbow-blended-coloured bubble bar that I can’t get enough of. It is just so colourful, bold, and pretty, I’m obsessed!

Each Intergalactic bubble bar weighs in at approximately 200g each. At the time of writing this review, other bubble bars of the same size that are created in the exact same way (and that are currently available to purchase, other than the 2 mentioned above) are the Cinnamon Roll bubble barSnow Fairy Roll bubble barBlue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds bubble bar and Botanomancy bubble bar.

The Intergalactic bubble bar contains peppermint, grapefruit, vetivert and cedarwood oils and is described on Lush’s website as the ‘perfect, post-orbit soak’.

Its scent is predominantly a peppermint one, the grapefruit in it is however also noticeable BUT I wouldn’t say it was a particularly fruity fragrance. The grapefruit adds a layer to the peppermint scent which I can only describe as a clean smell.

To use the Intergalactic bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use Lush’s single use bubble bars.

The one thing that I love about Lush’s bubble bars over their bath bombs is that they can easily be spread out over several baths. You can easily get 4 very generously bubbled baths out of just the one Intergalactic bubble bar making it excellent value for money.

If you’d like the bath water to be a darker blue at the end, I do however recommend using a little more per bath. The more of the Intergalactic bubble bar you use, the bluer the water under the bubbles will be. Using more doesn’t seem to get you many more bubbles but does make a difference on the end colour of your water.

Even if you decide to split the Intergalactic bubble bar 4 ways, it doesn’t compromise on its scent-quality which is often the case if you try to spread a bubble bar out a little too much. A blanket of fluffy white bubbles collects on the water’s surface immediately after placing the Intergalactic bubble-bar-pieces under the running tap.

An Intergalactic bubble-bar-bath leaves your skin feeling cool and refreshed. Its scent stays on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day after using it too. The scent lasts throughout the whole of your bath and the bubbles remain as well. As far as bubble bars go, it’s very much up there with the best of them!

Overall, I am so happy at the release of the Intergalactic bubble bar, it’s the prettiest bubble bar that Lush have ever made; The colours, its scent, and the galaxy-like-bathwater makes it worth every penny.

I hope that Lush keep the Intergalactic bubble bar as permanent stock for the foreseeable future, it’s the best bubble bar to have come out in a very long time.

Groovy Fairy Bath Bomb from Lush

The Snow Fairy scent dominates the Lush Christmas line and this year (2023) there are THREE Snow Fairy scented bath bombs available. Today I am reviewing the Groovy Fairy Bath Bomb which happens to be the cheapest of the three.

In true Snow-Fairy-fashion, the Groovy Fairy bath bomb is all one colour, a brilliantly bright pink! It has been designed in the shape of a cartoon fairy. The fairy has a star topped magic wand, little pointed feet, a bobbed style haircut and her fairy wings are decorated with little etched-in-stars.

Its look and name are clearly inspired by the Bang On The Door, Groovy Chick merchandise from the 90’s. Yes, I had a Groovy Chick bedroom growing up so recognised the resemblance straight away.

Weighing in at approximately 95g, Groovy Fairy is the same size as the Sleepy Bear bath bomb.

The Snow Fairy scent is best described as a sweet blend of candy floss and bubble gum. My first experience with the Snow Fairy scent was through the Snow Fairy shower gel many years ago.

I don’t always favour the super-sweet-scented Lush products however, with the Snow Fairy scent featuring so heavily in so many of Lush’s best-selling products, it’s impossible to avoid… Especially in the Winter!

Over the years I have warmed to the scent somewhat. The fact that every Snow Fairy item is a bright and glorious hot pink (my favourite colour) really helps me warm to each product too.

As I said earlier, Groovy Fairy isn’t the only Snow Fairy scented bath bomb from this year’s Christmas line. There is also a new-look Snow Fairy bath bomb and if you’re looking to really splash out on a HUGE Snow-Fairy-scented bath bomb, there is also the Snow Fairy Lights bath bomb too.

As the Groovy Fairy bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with an explosion of hot pink foam. It isn’t a bath bomb that produces any colourful bath art patterns, its selling points are its sweet as candy scent as well as the pink colour it turns your bath water.

The bath water left behind is not only bright pink but is also laced with a light yet beautiful shimmer.

The Groovy Fairy bath bomb took less than 3 minutes to fully dissolve, and its scent is sweet and strong right up until the last drop of it goes down the plug hole.

I found the bath water left behind by the Groovy Fairy bath bomb to be incredibly refreshing on the skin. Its sweet, bubble gum-rich scent can still be detected on your skin long after getting out of the bath too. For some reason, I never find any of Lush’s Snow-Fairy-scented bath bombs to be particularly hydrating on the skin, but my skin wasn’t any dryer than normal after using the Groovy Fairy bath bomb.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Groovy Fairy bath bomb, it’s a fantastic choice for anyone who is looking to experience the Snow Fairy scent at a lower price. It would also make the perfect Christmas gift for someone who you’d like to introduce to Lush Cosmetics or as a gift for an old school Lush fan too.

Golden Egg Shower Gel from Lush

The Golden Egg Shower Gel is a brand-new, limited-edition, Easter product that first became available in the UK at the start of March 2023. Interestingly, Golden Egg isn’t the first shower gel that Lush have released in its scent. You’ll recognise its scent if you’ve ever tried the It’s Raining Men/Honey I Washed the Kids shower gels before.

The difference between the Golden Egg and Honey I Washed the Kids shower gels (apart from the sparklingly obvious) is that Golden Egg is vegan. I am so happy for all of the vegan customers that now get to try this shower gel, it’s been something Lush customers have been asking for, for a very long time.

As you can see from the photographs I have included in this review, the Golden Egg shower gel is the most sparkly shower gel Lush have ever released.

The Golden Egg shower gel is liquid gold, just looking at how bright and sparkly it is in the bottle is mesmerising. The Golden Egg shower gel contains bergamot and Brazilian orange oils, its scent is simply delicious. It’s a sweet honey-like fragrance with hints of caramel. Some products I have reviewed that share its scent are the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb and most recently the Golden Angel bubble bar.

This truly beautiful shower gel isn’t as thick as the other most recent shower gels to have been released by Lush so I recommend giving the bottle a good shake before using it.

Golden Egg shower gel comes out of the bottle easily and a little amount of it goes a long way. You only need the smallest amount of it to wash your whole body. Seeing it so sparkly in your hand, I wouldn’t blame anyone for using a little more than is necessary! I recommend lathering the Golden Egg shower gel up slowly to get the best out of it, it isn’t incredibly foamy, but it cleans your skin with ease.

The Golden Egg shower gels scent really shines through when it comes together with the hot water and steam of your shower. Unfortunately, the scent doesn’t last for very long on your skin after use, BUT it does leave my skin clean, appearing brighter, feeling softer and is also actually quite hydrating.

If you have read my review on the Love shower gel, you’ll know how disappointed I was for all of the UK customers that couldn’t get it in a bottle (Lush UK decided that the UK would only be offered the sphere options). I am thanking the Lush gods that Lush decided to scrap the spheres as I’d have been devastated to miss out on this bottled shower gel.

There has never been a more beautiful shower gel from Lush. It looks, smells, and feels magnificent. It wouldn’t surprise me if Lush decided to retire the Honey I Washed the Kids shower gel only to replace it with the Golden Egg shower gel. I know some people think I’m crazy for getting so excited over a shower gel but it really is so good, I cannot recommend it enough!
