Tender is the Night Naked Shower Cream from Lush

Tender is the Night Naked Shower Cream

The Tender is the Night Naked Shower Cream is a brand new release from Lush. It is currently the product every Lushie is talking about as it is the first of the packageless ‘naked’ products that Lush have dared to release in only a naked form. The fact that Tender is the Night has only been released in naked form has caused a bit of a storm in the Lush community.

When the first lot of naked products went on sale last year, Lush also had its packaged equivalent available, giving customers a choice of getting the products naked or packaged. Now that a choice with Tender is the Night shower cream hasn’t even been offered, some customers aren’t at all happy.

I honestly don’t mind either way. I’ve heard that Lush did create a bottled version but it worked out so expensive that they scrapped it, whether that’s true or not is another question. The collector in me is a little disappointed as from experience the naked products don’t last nearly as long as the bottled ones (in regards to best before dates etc) I do however understand from trying the other various naked products that plastic is actually just a luxury that does more bad than good. It isn’t actually needed and Lush are proving this through the exploration and inventing of packageless products. Whatever you believe in regards to the naked Lush products, we all know that they are a small yet positive step in the right direction of helping save the planet we live on.

I feel as if Lush taking away the choice of bottled shower cream is a huge statement in itself. I also think this statement has been made consciously by Lush too. Do the fish in the sea get a choice when packaging waste is dumped in their home? no. Should we take more responsibility for ourselves and the plastic we make and use? YES. Whether you want to take responsibility or not, the lack of a bottled version of Tender is the Night shower cream has certainly got us all talking about an issue that we all need to wake up and face.

The Tender is the Night naked shower cream shares its scent with the very first Lush massage bar I ever got also named Tender is the Night. (pictured in the photo above). Its scent therefore has great sentimental value to me. When I very first took the naked shower cream out of my parcel I couldn’t smell it. This worried me a little, I’d been so looking forward to finally being able to experience the Tender is the Night scent in a different product format. The lack of a scent meant I wouldn’t be getting the experience I had hoped for.

Once I had it out and away from the other more dominantly scented Valentine’s products (that I will be reviewing over the next few weeks) I could finally detect the delicate scent that is Tender is the Night. Jam packed with vanilla, jasmine absolute and ylang ylang, its scent although light and airy reflects romance and love perfectly. It’s a beautiful and subtle floral-sweet blend.

Tender is the Night 2

Even though I appreciate why Lush haven’t made a bottled version of this shower cream I am still not completely sold on the solid shower gels or creams. Some I get on with and others I don’t. The Tender is the Night naked shower cream has however seriously impressed me from very first use. So much so that I have used it every day since it arrived. It lathers easily and a little goes a very long way, both of these are 2 things that I always look for in a shower gel and cream.

Lush shower creams are meant to be a little more hydrating than the shower gels, although Tender is the Night isn’t quite as moisturising as the likes of the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream it does leave my skin feeling soft and looking refreshed. The scent of it during use is just as good as the massage bar, its subtle scent also lasts all day on my skin leaving me eager to use it again.

I’m going to be bold and say that the Tender is the Night naked shower cream is my favourite of the naked shower gel/creams that I have tried out so far. A selfish bit of me pines for a bottled version but the naked version has left me more than satisfied. I hope Lush decided to use this scent in other future product formats as it’s one of my all time favourites.

Love Body Spray from Lush

Love Body Spray

Seeing as the season of love is hurtling towards us at a thousand miles per hour I thought it would be a good idea to complete and publish my review on the Love Body Spray. At the Lush Summit back in February 2017 Lush revealed several brand new body sprays. Some were available to buy whilst others were prototypes that weren’t quite ready for release. The Love body spray shares its scent with the perfume of the same name, the Love Apple bubble bar and one of my all time favourite bath bombs, the Fizzbanger.

Love body spray is rich with lemongrass and bergamot oil making it the perfect product to help lift your mood and start your day the right way.

To use all you have to do is squirt the Love body spray over your body or clothes. Just 1 or 2 squirts is all you need, I’m amazed that such a small amount leaves you smelling absolutely gorgeous all day long. I can understand why so many people like the body sprays more than the perfumes. They have the same level of strength (scent-wise) and you get so much more for your money.

Love2

The Love body sprays fragrance is quite a strong one. It however quickly settles to a much more gentle, sweet yet spicy, musky scent. When I smell it, all I can think of is hot apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, the lemongrass and bergamot are also noticeable giving the spray an extra layer of fruitiness. It is one of Lush’s warmest yet super refreshing scents and one I can never resist.

As I said above, only one or two spritz of the Love body spray is needed to get the most out of it, its scent really does stay with you for the whole day too. The fact you need to use so little of it also means it never seems to run out. I use my body sprays daily and have had Love for almost a year now and it’s still going strong.

I honestly don’t know why Lush didn’t create more body sprays long before now as they really are such wonderful products. They are cost effective and have such an amazing scent throw. The fact they help long term lushie’s reunite with a golden-oldie-scent from Lush’s past makes it even better. Even the newbie lushies can appreciate the body sprays, discovering scents they never had the chance to try makes exploring Lush’s products even more fun and worthwhile!

Once Upon A Time Naked Body Lotion from Lush

Once Upon A Time Naked Body LotionLast year (2017) Lush jam packed their shelves and online stock space with brand new, packageless ‘naked’ products. They created naked shower gels, naked shower creams, naked body conditioners and even naked lip scrubs. The Once Upon A Time Naked Body Lotion was also a new Lush invention from 2017, no other Lush body lotion had ever been made into a solid/naked form before, this meant the Once Upon A Time naked body lotion had a lot riding on its shoulders.

I got on really well with the potted version of Once Upon A Time body lotion so thought I’d give the naked version a go too. Although there’s a small piece of me that wishes Lush would just continue to sell body lotions and shower gels in pots and bottles, I can understand and appreciate the reasons as to why Lush are working towards creating naked everything. The world is at bursting point with plastic waste and if naked cosmetic products make even a little difference to our environment then it’s worth at least giving the naked products a try.

The Once Upon A Time naked body lotion is a proud member of the So White, Lush-scent-family. Both the naked and potted versions smell just as refreshing and crisp as the So White bath bomb. The sweet scent of fresh apples will always be welcome in my bathroom whatever the products format.

Apart from the obvious there really isn’t much difference between the potted and naked Once Upon A Time body lotions. Just like the potted Once Upon A Time, the naked Once Upon A Time goes a very long way. Instead of scooping lotion out and working it into your skin, you instead grab the green block of body lotion and work it into the parts of your body that are looking for a boost of hydration. The naked version works just as well as the potted version, the only significant difference is that I find the naked version slightly more oily. All this really means is that the naked version takes a little longer to soak in to your skin compared to the potted version.

I admit that storing the naked products is a little difficult due to it being packageless. It not being in a pot does however have its practical as well as ethical advantages too. Especially if you’re like me and have bad hands (therefore not being able to open lids easily). I am currently storing my naked Lush products on a rack in a bathroom cupboard. The naked products that come into contact with water such as the shower gels and body conditioners, will need to be left out to dry before storing them away in a closed box or cupboard etc BUT the Once Upon A Time naked body lotion is however fine to go straight onto the rack after use.

I feel like I should also add that they need to be stored somewhere slightly cooler than room temperature too, just like Lush massage bars the naked body lotion and conditioners do begin to melt if left somewhere warm enough. The naked and potted versions of Once Upon A Time are both great, they each have their own strong points but both give the same results upon use. Right now I still feel as if I favour the potted products but just from a practical point. I’m never very good with change and I’ve grown to love Lush’s little black pots with their funky white text. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but I believe Lush will be pushing naked products further and further this year so I’m keeping an open mind and giving them all a go.
