Sticky Dates Sugar Scrub from Lush

Sticky Dates Sugar Scrub is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2024’s Easter line. I was lucky enough to get to try it before its initial release as Lush gifted me a pot.

Back in August 2023 Lush released the Barbie Dream sugar scrub and I have never loved an exfoliation product from Lush more. I knew there and then that Lush needed to make more sugar scrubs.

Since then, we’ve had The Old Songs are Waking sugar scrub and now, Sticky Dates!

The Sticky Dates sugar scrub comes in both a 135g and 290g pot and contains caster sugar, golden caster sugar, fair trade organic cocoa butter, argan oil, extra virgin coconut oil, carob resinoid, benzoin resinoid, sandalwood oil and date syrup.

As you can see in the photo below the Sticky Dates sugar scrub looks like sparkly, golden sand.

The Sticky Dates sugar scrub shares its scent with several incredibly popular products, there’s the Sticky Dates shower gelSticky Dates body spray and Sticky Dates Co-Mingle body scrub just to name a few.

Its scent is quite simply DELICIOUS. It smells like a hot and gooey sticky toffee pudding with a generous scoop or 2 of vanilla ice cream.

Consistency-wise, the Sticky Dates sugar scrub is thick, it’s just like the Barbie Dream and the, The Old Songs are Waking sugar scrubs that I mentioned earlier. Perfect!

On the pot it says, ‘shower in hydrating argan oil and golden caster sugar which gently exfoliates then dissolves, leaving your skin soft and moisturised.’

After scooping out a small amount, I lathered it up and went straight to work with it.

I advise rubbing the sugar scrub in, in small, circular motions followed by rinsing it off. A small amount of the scrub goes a very long way, and I was pleasantly surprised at just how quickly it lathered up too. If you feel you need more, grab more!

I am just as impressed with the Sticky Dates sugar scrub for exfoliation as I was the other two previously mentioned sugar scrubs.

Lush really do need to make more sugar scrubs in all of their best-selling scents, all of the ones that have been released so far have been absolutely incredible. I’d love a Halloween sugar scrub in the Zesty body spray scent.

I speak so highly of Lush’s sugar scrubs because of how they make my skin feel after using them. Lush’s new sugar-scrub-formula is gentle, moisturising but incredibly scrubby at the same time.

With Sticky Dates and the other sugar scrubs, Lush have balanced the ratio of caster sugar and skin-moisturising ingredients perfectly. Sticky Dates is just as buttery as it is scrubby. Lush’s sugar scrubs are some of the best exfoliators I have ever used. There’s no need for body lotion afterwards and my skin has never looked so bright.

Overall, I can’t get enough of the Sticky Dates sugar scrub, and I won’t be surprised if the Sticky Dates sugar scrub becomes a mainline product at some point.

Hot Cross Bunny Bubble Bar from Lush

The Hot Cross Bunny Bubble Bar (a pun of hot cross buns) is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2024 Easter line. Designed to look like a very unhappy Easter bunny I couldn’t love his grumpy little face more! With that face, I knew he’d be the first of the 2024 Easter line that I’d try…

I was lucky enough to get to try Hot Cross Bunny before its official release as Lush kindly sent me one to try.

The Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar shares its scent with the Gingerbread House bubble bar and Mercury Retrograde bath bomb.

Each Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar weighs in at approximately 80g, it’s the perfect size for fitting in my hand.

The Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar contains a long list of stimulating and warming ingredients; Buchu oil, ginger oil, Sicilian lemon oil and ginger powder.

The Hot Cross Bunny’s scent is mouth-wateringly-good; Its mix of ginger oil and powder is what gives it, its spicy kick. It’s super warming and the more you sniff the more you are reminded of gingerbread biscuits.

It’s quite a soft bubble bar too making it easy to crumble up, ready to run under a running tap.

To use the Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it.

I find the sieve method the most effective way to use Lush’s single use bubble bars. It is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted. Through trial and error, I have found that using bubble bars like this makes the most bubbles too.

The one thing that I usually love about Lush’s bubble bars over their bath bombs is that they can easily be spread out over several baths. However, With Hot Cross Bunny being so small I recommend using the whole thing in one bath, this will ensure that you get the most out of it.

I tried sharing the Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar over two different baths and although both weren’t bad baths, it did compromise on its scent-quality ever so slightly. I therefore really do recommend using the whole thing if it’s just the bubble bar that you are using. (It would probably be ok to spread out if you were using other products such as a bath bomb with it too though!)

The blanket of fluffy white bubbles starts to grow as soon as you place the broken-up pieces of the Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar under the running tap. Underneath the fast-building blanket of fluffy, white bubbles the water turns an inviting shade of orange.

Once in the bath, I couldn’t help but notice how creamy and soft the water was. A Hot Cross Bunny bubble-bar-bath leaves your skin feeling soft, hydrated and toasty. It’s a good bubble bar to use if you have any aches and pains that need soothing.

Once out of the bath, its scent although a lot more subtle, lasts on your skin for a good-few-hours.

Overall, I really like the Hot Cross Bunny bubble bar, I wish Lush would make more products in this scent as it’s perfect for the Wintertime. I always said that the Gingerbread House bubble bar that shares Hot Cross Bunny’s scent was a favourite of mine so getting to experience its scent again through Hot Cross Bunny was a real treat!

Henny Penny Bubble Bar from Lush

The Henny Penny Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2023 Easter line. This shimmering, orange coloured chicken was one of the first products from this years range to catch my attention.

You may recognise the Henny Penny bubble bars scent as it also features in the Blackberry bath bombBewitched bubble bar and Sultana shower gel. It’s a very popular Lush-scent-family, and one I adore.

The Henny Penny bubble bar is incredibly detailed in a cartoon-like-way, you can make out the chicken’s feathers, beak, and eyes. It’s only a small (but very pretty) chicken, weighing in at approximately 100g each.

The Henny Penny bubble bar contains both olibanum and bergamot oils. This superb blend of essential oils are perfect for helping you wind down after a long day. The olibanum offers a sweet and gentle woody aroma while the bergamot gives it a delicate floral and citrus-fruit edge.

To use the Henny Penny bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve then let the running water trickle over it as I run my bath. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubbles bars like Henny Penny.

This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

My favourite thing about Lush’s bubble bars is that unlike the bath bombs they can be easily spread out over several baths.

Sadly, with Henny Penny being quite a small bubble bar I recommend using it all in one bath. Although, the choice is all yours. I suspect spreading it over 2 baths would be fine as most Lush bubble bars are good for it.

It doesn’t take long for the blanket of fluffy white bubbles to form once you run Henny Penny under the tap. Underneath the blanket of fluffy white bubbles your bath water turns a bold orange with plenty of golden sparkles.

A Henny Penny bath leaves me just as ready for bed as the Twilight or Sleepy bath bomb does (if not more!). There’s just something so magical about the combination of olibanum and bergamot oils that really helps me drift off.

My skin feels soft and well hydrated upon getting out of a Henny Penny bath, its moreish scent also remains on my skin hours after using it.

Before the Blackberry bath bomb was discontinued it was my go-to if I was ever struggling to fall asleep. As sad as I am that the Blackberry bath bomb has gone, Henny Penny made up for it, this Easter. I hope that Lush carry on creating new products in this scent as it really is gold dust for people that struggle to fall asleep like me.
