Sleepy Timmy Bubble Bar from Lush

The Shaun the Sheep X Lush collaboration is finally out! In partnership with Aardman, Lush have created six fresh, fully vegan products – each of them a tribute to Shaun the Sheep and the charming characters from his world.

Today I am reviewing the Sleepy Timmy Bubble Bar, I was lucky enough to receive one in a PR box from Lush.

The Sleepy Timmy bubble bar is based on the main character (Shaun’s) younger cousin, Timmy. Like the Shaun The Sheep bath bomb from the same collection, the Sleepy Timmy bubble bar is made into the characters face, unlike Shaun, Timmy doesn’t have a fluffy white top but does have two similar large cartoonish eyes.

The Sleepy Timmy bubble bar is all black apart from the whites of his eyes. In ways, it reminds me of the Bewitched bubble bar – that bubble bar was also all black apart from its yellow eyes.

Weighing in at approximately 100g, Sleepy Timmy is one of Lush’s smaller bubble bars. Given its size, I decided to use the entire bar for a single bath. Normally, I stretch my bubble bars across multiple baths, but this time, I opted to indulge in the full Sleepy Timmy experience all at once.

Ingredients wise, the Sleepy Timmy bubble bar contains some of the following ingredients: lavender oil, chamomile oil, lavender absolute and neroli oil.

The Sleepy Timmy bubble bar scent is a part of Lush’s Deep Sleep scent-family. Other products that have recently come out in the same scent include the Sleepy Bear shower gel and Deep Sleep bath bomb.

Sleepy Timmy is packed with some of the world’s most relaxing ingredients, boasting a lavender-rich scent with soothing notes of chamomile.

While my nose struggles to pick up on the neroli that is in Sleepy Timmy, its calming effects are undeniably there, I was left feeling content and blissfully relaxed – just what neroli used in cosmetics is known for.

To use the non-reusable bubble bars like Sleepy Timmy, I break them up then stick the bubble bar pieces into a sieve and let the running-tap spill over it (see above photo).

This method is the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have worked out that it is the best way to get the most out of your bubble bar, bubble wise.

A blanket of fluffy white bubbles starts to grow as soon as you place the broken-up pieces of the Sleepy Timmy bubble bar under the running tap.

Underneath the bubbles the water turns jet black. I noticed as the bubbles built up that the larger bubbles had an almost rainbow tinted sheen to them, it was hard to capture in a photo, the above photos is the best I managed.

Having a good soak in a Sleepy Timmy bath left my skin feeling silky smooth and looking fresh as a daisy. The scent lasted throughout the whole bath and left me feeling a little sleepy, maybe I should have used it before bed instead of first thing in the morning…

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Sleepy Timmy bubble bar, it’s a great addition to the Shaun The Sheep X Lush line!

Macaque Bubble Bar from Lush

The Macaque Bubble Bar (pronounced muh-cark) is Lush’s latest fundraising product.

The sales of this limited-edition bubble bar supports efforts to protect Simeulue’s primary rainforests and the endangered long-tailed macaque that calls the rainforests of Simeulue their home.

75% of the sales price of this bubble bar (excluding tax) goes directly to organisations tackling deforestation and human-wildlife conflict on the island.

The Macaque bubble bar is terracotta coloured and created in the shape of a Macaque monkey.

Each Macaque bubble bar is approximately 130g.

Some of the ingredients included in the Macaque bubble bar are, olibanum and bergamot oil. Macaque shares its scent with the Blackberry bath bomb, belonging to Lush’s ‘Sultana’ scent family.

Other products that share its scent are the Bubble Lugosi bubble bar and Sultana shower gel.

The blend of olibanum and bergamot oil are perfect for helping you wind down after a long or stressful day. The olibanum offers a sweet and gentle woody aroma while the bergamot gives it a delicate floral, slightly citrus-fruit edge.

I often reach for products from the Sultana scent family if I have a headache as I find that particular mix of ingredients really helps soothe any tension I am holding on to.

To use the Macaque bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve then let the running water trickle over it as I run the bath. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubbles bars.

This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method helps create the maximum amount of bubbles!

The best thing about Lush’s bubble bars is that they can be spread over several baths. With the Macaque bubble bar being only 130g I however recommend only spreading it out over two baths. Anymore and I feel like you’ll be compromising on its scent quality and the bubble amount.

A thick blanket of bubbles begins to grow immediately after holding the bubble bar under the running tap. Normally, Lush bubble bars create white bubbles, but I noticed with the Macaque bubble bar that the bubbles had a slightly yellow hue to them.

The water underneath the collection of fluffy bubbles is a warm very inviting shade of yellow; As you sink into the bath water you can immediately feel how silky the water has become.

My skin feels soft and perfectly hydrated upon getting out of a Macaque bubble bath, it’s delicious scent also remains on my skin for the rest of the day.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Macaque bubble bar and the fact it is raising money for a worthy cause makes it all the better!

Sugar Plum Sparkle Bubble Bar from Lush

The Sugar Plum Sparkle Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2024 Christmas line, I was fortunate enough to receive one as a gift from Lush.

Design wise, the Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bar looks and is made in the exact same way as the year round best-selling bubble bars, BrightsideThe Comforter and Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds.

Lush get the different coloured bits of bubble-bar-dough then roll them together. The miniature sized ones are then squished from the top, a bit like you would do when laying cookies out on their baking tray.

The larger sized bubbles are made a little differently, they are rolled into a big sausage shape and then chopped into slices (See above photo)

Each of these methods is how Lush get the beautiful bubble bar to look so perfectly swirly.

You can only buy the full sized Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bars individually, but I believe that the smaller sized ones are available in some of the Christmas giftsets.

Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bar is made from three striking colours: dark purple, dark blue and hot pink. With a name like Sugar Plum Sparkle, you’d expect it to glimmer like the nights sky and glimmer it does!

The striking purple, blue and pink parts of the bubble bar spiral around each other, swirling in an almost hypnotising way.

I love how the colours clash so well with each other; it almost feels criminal to break the bubble bar up to use.

At approximately 200g each, the full sized Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bars are one of Lush’s bigger bubble bars currently available.

Essential oils wise, the Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bar only contains sweet wild orange.

The Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bar’s scent is probably one of the hardest I have ever had to describe.

Some have compared it to The Comforter bubble bar that I mentioned above, and others have gone as far as to say it’s better than Lush’s Snow Fairy scent family… A very bold statement considering the level of Snow Fairies popularity!

It’s a delicate fruity sweet scent that is slightly artificial to my nose. At the risk of sounding like I’ve completely lost the plot it makes me think of something really specific from my childhood… My, My Little Pony collection.

Please do not ask me why as I don’t know myself. All I know is, those plastic ponies are all I can picture in my head when I sniff Sugar Plum Sparkle… I’m wondering if one of the ponies I had were maybe scented in a similar fragrance?

To use the non-reusable bubble bars like Sugar Plum Sparkle, I break them up then stick the bubble bar pieces into a sieve and let the running-tap spill over it (see above photo).

This method is the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have worked out that it is the best way to get the most out of your bubble bar, bubble wise.

One of the best things about the Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bar is just how far it goes.

You can get (at the very least) four baths out of just the one Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bar without compromising on its scent quality and bubble amount. If you did however feel like you wanted to use more of it per bath, you can always add more, you are in charge after all!

The blanket of fluffy white bubbles starts to grow as soon as you place the broken-up pieces of The, Sugar Plum Sparkle Bubble Bar under the running tap.

Underneath the fast-building blanket of fluffy, white bubbles the water turns the dreamiest shade of purple. I didn’t want to get out! The purple water shimmers like someone has shattered a disco ball into it, it’s beautiful.

I couldn’t believe just how many bubbles just one quarter of the bubble bar made too; To get the above photo I had grab a load of it and put it on the other side of the bath. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many bubbles from such a small amount of bubble bar before!

Having a good soak in a Sugar Plum Sparkle bath left my skin feeling silky and looking refreshed. The scent lasted throughout the bath but once out of the bath I could no longer smell it on my skin.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Sugar Plum Sparkle bubble bar and plan on getting an extra one before the 2024 Christmas line retires. It’s beautiful before use and during, a real work of art!

I have my fingers crossed that more products come out in its scent very soon, it’s nice to have something sweet that isn’t Snow Fairy for a change.
