Posh Chocolate Body Lotion from Lush

At the time of writing this review the Posh Chocolate Body Lotion has only ever been available in Lush’s Posh Choc gift set…

The Posh Chocolate fragrance is one of Lush’s newer scent families. We first got to experience it back in 2021 through the oh-so-delicious Posh Chocolate body wash.

Since the Posh Chocolate body wash came out, Posh Chocolate has become one of Lush’s bestselling scents and has been released in several other product formats; We’ve had the Posh Chocolate shower gelPosh Chocolate body scrub and the Lady Danbury bath bomb just to name a few.

The Posh Chocolate scent is best described as a ‘true feast for the senses’, straight from the bottle the Posh Chocolate body lotion smells just like a tub of hazelnut and cocoa spread, it’s mouth wateringly good!

The Posh Chocolate body lotion is a chocoholics dream product… BUT, before anyone asks (and believe me they do) no you can’t eat Lush products (even the ones that smell as good as this Posh Chocolate body lotion) what you can however do with the Posh Chocolate body lotion is slather it all over your body!

The Posh Chocolate body lotion contains some of the following ingredients: hazelnut milk, sunflower oil, organic jojoba oil, hazelnut oil, glycerine, fair trade organic cocoa butter, organic illipe butter, cocoa absolute and cocoa powder.

As I mentioned earlier, this body lotion is only available in the Posh Choc gift set. In this gift set it comes in a 100g bottle – which in my personal opinion is a crime, having so little means I am rationing it…

I have my fingers crossed that Lush see sense and release the Posh Chocolate body lotion in larger quantities and outside of the gift set very soon!

Colour wise, the Posh Chocolate body lotion is lighter than I imagined it to be, especially when comparing it to other Posh Chocolate scented Lush products. Instead of chocolate-cake-brown, it is a very light shade of brown, almost cream.

Whenever I see a Lush body lotion sold in a bottle instead of a standard black-Lush-pot, I think it may be because the lotion has a super runny consistency. Posh Chocolate is however thick and creamy, much like the recently released Let the Good Times Roll body lotion.

Consistency wise it is a very good body lotion – it’s not too thick that it takes ages to absorb into your skin and not so runny that it spills everywhere when trying to get it out of the bottle.

With it only being available in a 100g bottle, it’s a good thing you only need a small amount each time you use it. Once the body lotion meets your skin, it simply glides across it like butter in a hot pan…

One of my favourite things about Lush products is that so many of them can be spread out over several uses, their products may be a little more expensive because you’re paying for important extras like ethically sourced ingredients, but you really do get a lot of product for your money when so little of it goes so far.

After use, the scent of the Posh Chocolate body lotion remains on your skin all day. As for the condition of your skin, it leaves it silky soft and so well-nourished, there isn’t anything more that you could possibly need out of a body lotion. Posh Chocolate is perfect!

Crème Anglaise Body Lotion from Lush

The Crème Anglaise Body Lotion isn’t a new product from Lush, it however fits in so well with Lush’s latest collaboration with the Netflix’s Bridgerton series, that it has made a reappearance with fancy, Bridgerton themed packaging.

All of the packaged Lush X Bridgerton products have incredibly detailed labels with a regency era vibe. Crème Anglaise sports a baby blue label, that immediately caught my attention.

The in-store and online Bridgerton line was released just in time for the start of season 3. Sadly, I have already finished season 3, but the Bridgerton themed Lush products are really helping fill the void it has left in my life…

I was lucky enough to receive a pot of the Bridgerton themed Crème Anglaise body lotion in a surprise box sent from Lush back in May, but I have bought it for myself before. Thank you, Lush!

The Crème Anglaise body lotions scent is best described as very almondy. It also has hints of vanilla mixed in with it giving it a heady and intense sweet desert-like-fragrance.

Some of the ingredients included in the Bridgerton edition of the Crème Anglaise body lotion are, meadowsweet infusion, organic almond oil, organic cocoa butter, fresh rose petal infusion, organic jojoba oil, tiger lily extract, organic avocado oil, sacha inchi oil, organic cold pressed evening primrose oil, organic orange blossom honey, Brazilian orange oil, myrrh resinoid, vanilla absolute and bees wax.

Over the years, Lush have described the Crème Anglaise body lotion as one of their most luxurious lotions ever.

It is a light nude shade and consistency wise it’s a lot like the Sleepy body lotion; Not too thick that it takes forever to rub in and not so thin you accidentally waste some by spilling it.

A small amount of the Crème Anglaise body lotion goes a very long way. Its thick formula soothes your skin and leaves it soft and perfectly hydrated.

I have found its scent to last only a couple of hours after use, which is different from the other Bridgerton body lotion, Tender is the Night.

This however isn’t a negative for me as I’ve never been a huge fan of sweet-foody scents like Crème Anglaise. The fact that its scent does not last doesn’t bother me at all, I much prefer to focus on the way it leaves my skin feeling after use. It really is luxurious.

The Crème Anglaise body lotion also sinks into your skin quickly, a plus if you’re in a hurry.

Overall, I do really like the Crème Anglaise body lotion, which is something I wasn’t expecting when I first came across it as, as I said earlier, the sweet-foody scented products aren’t the products that I ordinarily reach for. How it leaves my skin has however won the Crème Anglaise body lotion over for me. What a treat!

Happy Hippy Body Lotion from Lush

At the time of writing this review the Happy Hippy Body Lotion was an exclusive item only ever available in the 49th Lush Kitchen Subscription Box.

The Happy Hippy scent is one of Lush’s older scent families and therefore considered one of their retro fragrances. It was created long before I became a Lushie and has always been popular.

The Happy Hippy body lotion shares its scent with the Happy Hippy shower gel and half of the Happy Pill bath bomb.

The Happy Hippy scent is best described as a light grapefruit fragrance; Normally grapefruit scents are super bitter and quite often so strong that just one sniff can make you wince, the Happy Hippy scent is however very gentle, making it quite a unique grapefruit-based-scent.

Happy Hippy’s scent although gentle still has a lot of power, it adds a spring to your step but without blowing your head off; It’s the ideal fragrance for those that want a boost without a heavy scent.

Some of the ingredients included in the body lotion are almond oil, fair trade organic cocoa butter, grapefruit oil, bergamot oil and olibanum oil.

The Happy Hippy body lotion came in a 250g bottle which really impressed me as last month’s Lush Kitchens subscription box’s body lotion (the Tender is the Night body lotion) was only 100g.

The body lotion itself is a very light shade of yellow, in some lights it could almost be white. Whenever I see a Lush body lotion sold in a bottle and not in their standard black pots, I think it may be because it has a runny consistency. Happy Hippy is however thick and creamy much like the recently released Let the Good Times Roll body lotion.

It’s not too thick that it takes forever to rub in and not so runny that you accidentally waste it when getting it out of the bottle. In my opinion, the consistency is more or less perfect for a body lotion.

A small amount of the Happy Hippy body lotion goes a very long way. This is one of my favourite things about Lush, their products may be a little more expensive because you’re paying for important extras like ethically sourced ingredients, but you really do get a lot of product for your money when so little of it goes so far.

The scent of the Happy Hippy body lotion doesn’t last for very long, I’ve tried to use more to see if that helps but it’s always very subtle at best; Not everyone likes big, bold scents though. Although its scent isn’t strong it does leave my skin looking and feeling well nourished. It feels particularly good on my legs after shaving.

I haven’t used it alongside the shower gel with the same scent yet but would be interested to know if this makes the scent go a little further?

It is quite often the case that citrusy scents don’t have as much staying power as others and sadly the Happy Hippy body lotions scent doesn’t last on my skin for any more than an hour, BUT I do still really like it.

It’s an ideal body lotion if you’re a fan of more subtle fragrances, I can see myself using this daily. Especially when I’m not in the mood for smothering myself in stronger scents.
