Intergalactic Body Scrub from Lush

The Intergalactic Body Scrub is a brand-new Lush product that (at the time of writing this review) has only ever been available as an exclusive product in December 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box. I haven’t heard any news that it will be released elsewhere, but it has been a hugely popular product so Lush would be wise to make more.

I was pleased to see that the pot of Intergalactic body scrub in December 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box was a big one at 290g. In November’s subscription box we had the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub only in a 100g pot and I could have really done with a bigger pot.

The Intergalactic body scrub is just like the bath bomb of the same name, a vibrant mix of blue, yellow and pink. Consistency wise I was hoping it would be just like the Barbie Dream sugar scrub, but it is closer to the likes of the foaming body scrubs such as, Celebrate.

The Intergalactic body scrub’s scent is as its name suggests, Intergalactic scented. Intergalactic is a very popular scent-family amongst Lush customers and has featured in several quite recently released products such as the Intergalactic bubble bar. The scent is however best known in its bestselling product format, the Intergalactic bath bomb

The Intergalactic body scrub contains a long list of ingredients, some of those included are, caster sugar, fair trade organic cocoa butter, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic illipe butter, mango butter, peppermint oil, grapefruit oil, vetivert oil and cedarwood oil.

The fact that the Intergalactic body scrub is a sugar-based scrub was what made me think it would be just like the Barbie Dream sugar scrub but as I said earlier, consistency wise it’s more like Lush’s foaming body scrubs minus the foam.

I loved the consistency of the Barbie Dream sugar scrub so was really hoping the Intergalactic body scrub would be the same. While the Intergalactic body scrub isn’t the same as Barbie Dream it is in no way a bad scrub, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

A very small amount of the Intergalactic body scrub goes a very long way, I scoop out about 3 fingers worth, this amount can easily scrub my whole body twice.

I recommend starting off by working it into wet skin slowly as this seems to get the most out of it as a scrub. Once you feel like you have scrubbed enough add a little bit more water and speed up the rubbing-in to make it lather up. It’s an excellent product for both cleansing and exfoliating your skin.

The one thing that I feel I need to point out is that less is more when it comes down to Lush’s body scrubs. The Intergalactic body scrub in particular has a lot of moisturising butters and oils in so using too much can leave your skin a little slick. If you do find it a little too hydrating a splash of the (same scented) Intergalactic shower gel helps to lift some of the skins excess moisture without leaving your skin dry.

After using the Intergalactic body scrub its sharp peppermint and grapefruit scent remains on your skin long after you have used it. It leaves your skin smoother, brighter-in-appearance and well hydrated. There is no need to moisturise after using it and I find it particularly good on my legs when used before shaving.

As scrubs go it’s just as good (if not better) as Lush’s foaming body scrubs. I love that it’s blue, pink, and yellow too. It’s such an interesting design, I’d love to see how Lush make it as the colours swirl so perfectly together and don’t bleed into one another in the pot either.

Overall, I love the Intergalactic body scrub. I hope that this isn’t the last we see of it so that other Lush customers who aren’t subscribed to the Lush Kitchen subscription box get to try it too!
