Twilight Sparkle Jar from Lush

Twilight Sparkle Jar

Unless you have been hiding under a rock you’ve probably heard the word ‘naked’ being thrown around in the Lush community quite a bit. Apart from briefly mentioning it in a naked lip scrub review, I haven’t really addressed what the word actually means in the Lush world. I promise to delve further into the whole naked-product thing closer to Christmas… Today I am reviewing another of Lush’s new, ‘naked’ products the Twilight Sparkle Jar.

The sparkle jars are hollow massage bars that have dusting powder in. Last year Lush released their very first Twilight scented dusting powder called Mr Sandman, it flew off the shelves. This year Lush have however shaken things up by getting rid of the plastic bottle that held the dusting powders, Lush have replaced the plastic bottle with a massage-bar dusting powder-shaker instead.

The sparkle jars are designed to be used as you would a salt and pepper pot, each of the sparkle jars have 2 sealed holes in, the idea behind it is that you poke the holes through once the product is with you and ready to use.

The Twilight sparkle jar contains the best selling Mr Sandman dusting powder, once you have pierced both holes it is ready to use, to use it I gently rub the massage-bar-jar on where I am going to put the dust, obviously you have to keep the jar a certain way up so that you don’t lose any of the powder. This makes things a little difficult but not enough to make me dislike the product. After Lush discontinued so many of the Lush massage bars earlier this year I was more than pleased to see that the Twilight sparkle jar could also be used as a massage bar.

The Twilight sparkle jar isn’t quite as soft as an actual Lush massage bar though, it is far more robust and doesn’t melt nearly as quickly in your hands. This is a quality I like as this is what makes it possible to be both a massage bar and a dust jar. Once you have finished rubbing the massage bar in you just sprinkle the powder out of it, lightly dusting your skin.

Using it as a massage bar before applying the dust leaves you with a subtle sparkly sheen it also adds an extra layer of fragrance to your skin. After applying it my skin is not only fragranced with the Twilight scent but is also smooth to the touch. It makes your skin feel silky soft and works wonders in areas of your body that are prone to sometimes get excessively sweaty such as under your boobs. Although it’s not an antiperspirant it does help keep sweat away for a little longer than when you go without. Overall I am really impressed with this new Lush invention and can’t wait to see if Lush will bring out a few more in the not so distant future!
