Christmas Capybara Bath Bomb from Lush

The Christmas Capybara Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2024 Christmas line, I was fortunate enough to receive one as a gift from Lush.

It is described by Lush as ‘the sweetest addition to the Lush festive family.’ And I couldn’t agree with Lush more.

I’m a little shocked at the amount of people that had never heard of a capybara until this bath bomb was released, where have you been?!?!!

For anyone that finds themselves reading this review and doesn’t know what a capybara is, fear no more as I’m about to explain… A capybara is the world’s largest living rodent, I have always thought they look just like gigantic guinea pigs.

After doing a quick bit of research on the internet, I have learnt that adult capybaras can grow up to 134cm’s in length, 62cm’s tall and can weigh up to 146 pounds, so a lot bigger than a guinea pig!

The Christmas Capybara bath bomb is quite true to an actual capybara shape wise; It’s bright orange and is wearing a red and white Christmas hat.

The capybara bath bomb is sat down, and Lush have even gone as far as to add little details such as, a little eye, one exposed ear and jagged lumps that look like clumps of its fur, it’s almost too cute to let it go down the drain.

Each Christmas Capybara bath bomb is approximately 100g making it the perfect size for fitting in my hand.

Some of the ingredients included in the Christmas Capybara bath bomb are lime oil, sweet wild orange oil and olibanum resinoid.

The scent of the Christmas Capybara bath bomb is zesty, fruity and incredibly vibrant. It is a very powerful scent, a little sharp and has a slightly woody undertone in it that never fails to lighten my mood whenever I am near it.

Better known products that share its scent include the Never Mind The Ballistics bath bomb and I Want My Mummy Bath Bomb (2024).

Zesty products such as the Christmas Capybara bath bomb are perfect for me to use in the Winter as where it is permanently cold and day light is scarce, I always need a boost; The Christmas Capybaras scent leaves me feeling refreshed, energised and considerably happier.

As soon as the Christmas Capybara bath bomb touches the water it begins to fizz away, releasing a thin stream of orange foam from the capybaras body and red from the capybaras hat.

There’s also a small amount of white foam from the capybaras hat but it soon disappears before coming back once the bath water completely takes over the bath bomb, it is then that the bath art begins.

I wasn’t expecting much bath art from the Christmas Capybara bath bomb but was pleasantly surprised with the orange, white and red colours that spin out of it sitting upon the surface of your bath water.

The Christmas Capybara bath bomb was a very slow fizzer taking just over 12 minutes to fully dissolve. Recently I have used a lot of bath bombs that were very quick fizzers, so it was nice to have a super slow one after so long!

Once the Christmas Capybara has dissolved it leaves behind the most gorgeous bright yellow water that I couldn’t help but swish around.

After leaving the bath, my skin felt hydrated and soft. The scent also remained on my skin for the rest of the day although, not nearly as powerful as when you have the bath bomb in your hand. On your skin it is noticeable but delicate, just how I like it.

Overall, The Christmas Capybara is cute, has a strong and vibrant scent that lasts and creates bath art galore. What more could you want in a bath bomb?

I think it is not only one of my favourite products from the 2024 Christmas line but also one of my favourite bath bombs from 2024; A bold statement indeed when just this year I’ve reviewed over 60 bath bombs!

I have my fingers crossed that the Christmas Capybara returns next Christmas and would love to see more Capybara bath bombs in other future seasonal lines…

Imagine a Love Expert Capybara for Valentine’s or a Mama Capybara for Mother’s Day? WE COULD HAVE A WHOLE FAMILY OF CAPYBARA BATH BOMBS! Lush, if you’re reading this, here am I begging for you to consider a capybara bath bomb takeover!

Whether you’re a capybara lover or just seeking some me time this Winter, the Christmas Capybara bath bomb is guaranteed to brighten your day!

Mother Christmas Bath Bomb from Lush

The Mother Christmas Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2024 Christmas line, I was fortunate enough to receive one as a gift from Lush.

Mother Christmas is a hot pink, mother-shaped bath bomb she has a kind, round face and a neatly styled updo. She’s dressed in a cosy-looking gown adorned with a single heart at its centre; Her outfit is completed with a cute pair of curly toed elf shoes!

The Mother Christmas bath bomb is also decorated with a sprinkling of dissolvable white stars, which happen to be my favourite special detail on any Lush product that features them.

The stars may only be small, but they add an extra touch of magic to every product they are used on, Mother Christmas wouldn’t be nearly as good without them.

Each Mother Christmas bath bomb is approximately 90g making it the same size as the Snow Queen bath bomb from the same line.

Some of the ingredients included in the Mother Christmas bath bomb are agar agar, bergamot oil, olibanum oil, geranium oil and marshmallow root.

The Mother Christmas bath bomb shares its scent with the Peeping Santa bubbleroon and Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel.

Its scent is best described as just like a bowl of freshly sliced strawberries drizzled in cream.

The scent of the Mother Christmas bath bomb is strawberry-sweet, which is everything you’d imagine the real Mother Christmas to be. She is the heartbeat of Christmas; Father Christmas would be lost without her!

With the Mother Christmas bath bomb being all one colour, I wasn’t expecting bath art from it at all, I assumed it would put on a similar show as past Christmas bath bombs did such as the Tick-Tock bath bomb and I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas bath bombs but with Lush, always remember to expect the unexpected…

As soon as the Mother Christmas bath bomb touches the water it begins to fizz away, releasing an even layer of thick pink foam over the bath water’s surface.

After just a few seconds, patches of the pink foam starts to turn orange!?!!

Just like the Snow Queen bath bomb that I mentioned above, the Mother Christmas bath bomb has a colour changing trick up its sleeve. The orange colour is inside the agar agar and as the agar agar gets wet, the orange pigment in it gets released!

What I expected to be a standard bright-pink-only bath, quickly became a pink and orange work of swirling art; (see below photo.)

I couldn’t believe my eyes, the photos in this review do the bath art created by the Mother Christmas bath bomb no justice at all.

I wish I could have captured a photo on how the mini dissolvable white stars also spread over the water’s surface in amongst the pink and orange foam. It’s a bath bomb you must try yourself to see just how beautifully it performs!

The Mother Christmas bath bomb takes five minutes to fully dissolve leaving you with plenty of time to lie back and relax in its strawberry-sweet, scented waters.

The end water is a bright and cheery shade of orange and feels incredible on your skin. Once out of the bath, my skin appears brighter, feels refreshed and is also super soft to touch.

The scent lingers delicately on your skin for a good few hours after you’ve towelled off. Mother Christmas is the perfect pick-me-up for a cold winter’s day, offering a little touch of festive joy and a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of the season.

Overall, the Mother Christmas bath bomb exceeded all of my expectations. From its charming design and magical bath art to its indulgent scent and skin-softening properties, it’s a true festive treat that I hope comes back again next year!

Snow Queen Bath Bomb from Lush

The Snow Queen Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2024 Christmas line and I was fortunate enough to receive one as a gift from Lush.

It is described by Lush as a ‘Queen frozen by Winter that will thaw in warm waters.’

Snow Queen is an icy blue, queen-shaped bath bomb with a crown, wavy hair and a long flowing dress that is decorated with snowflakes; It screams cold and icy, fitting right into the theme of Winter.

It is a beautifully made bath bomb, whose colouring and regalness perfectly capture the Snow Queen’s frosty charm!

At 90g each the Snow Queen is one of Lush’s smaller Winter bath bombs BUT never assume with bath bombs that bigger is better…

Some of the ingredients included in the Snow Queen bath bomb are agar agar, peppermint oil, bergamot oil, sweet wild orange oil and dried lilac cornflowers.

A lot of people say anything with peppermint oil in it smells the same, no matter what other ingredients it has mixed with it. With peppermint being such a dominant ingredient fragrance wise, I can see (or should I say, smell) what people mean.

It’s very difficult to pinpoint other ingredients when peppermint is involved but with the Snow Queen bath bomb it does have other noticeable yet subtle scent notes.

You get the coolness of the peppermint primarily but then the orange oil adds a sweetness and then the bergamot a bitterness, it rounds off the mintyness giving it less clout. As peppermint based fragrances go it is quite complex and, in my opinion, quite an acquired taste but one I have grown to love.

I make it no secret that sleepiness is a huge part of my personality, minty products are therefore perfect for me as there’s nothing like them to wake you up.

Many people like to save minty products for the Summer because of their cooling effect, but I love how they wake me up—even in the Winter. With the Snow Queen’s scent not being as powerful menthol wise, it’s a good alternative for this time of year (just in case you didn’t want to feel too cool!)

As soon as the Snow Queen bath bomb touches the water it begins to fizz away, releasing a thin stream of blue foam that in places turn green. (see below photo). The blue to green is a little trick Lush have added to this bath bomb, the green colour is inside the agar agar and as the agar gets wet, the green is released.

Even with the added green specs Snow Queen isn’t going to give you much bath art but as the bath bomb fizzes away a very small amount of dried lilac cornflowers are also released into the water. For those customers that do not like to bathe with ‘bits’ I have good news, it’s a very small amount of flowers making clean up a breeze.

The Snow Queen bath bomb was a very fast fizzer taking only three minutes to fully dissolve. Left behind is the most gorgeous turquoise/marine green coloured bath water.

Looking at the bath bomb beforehand, I thought the water would be an icy blue colour but the secret green in the bath bomb made it a stunning shade of marine green.

After leaving the bath, my skin felt smooth, appeared brighter and I felt really refreshed. The scent wasn’t really detectable anymore but its effects on my skin lasted.

I thoroughly enjoyed using the Snow Queen bath bomb and would happily pick it up again while it’s still available. Its unique scent blend, refreshing effects, and vibrant marine green bath water make it a standout in this year’s Christmas range!
