Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar from Lush

Pumpkin Bubble Bar-2The Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar is a product that never fails to make an appearance in Lush’s Halloween product line up. Year in, year out it comes back, ready and waiting to take on yet another Lush autumn. As its name suggests the Sparkly Pumpkin is a bright orange, pumpkin shaped bubble bar that has a generous coating of golden lustre with a single piece of cinnamon stick as its stalk.

I think the first time I ever used Sparkly Pumpkin was back in 2015, it wasn’t a product that instantly stood out to me, visually I didn’t and still don’t find it the most eye catching of Lush products. Back then the only reason I originally gave it a chance was because it came in a gift set that my husband bought me.

Although the bubble bar doesn’t wow me as much as other Lush products do, I can still see that it has some amazing qualities and can also identify the reasons why it comes back to stores every autumn.

The Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar is relatively small, it fits snuggly in my ‘child-sized’ hand. I can see why some people are tempted to use the whole bubble bar for just one bath, I however use the one Sparkly Pumpkin over 2 baths without any compromise on quality or how many bubbles it creates.

Sparkly Pumpkin bubbles up very quickly, I recommend using it in a sieve as I find it is quite a crumbly bubble bar, many people don’t use a sieve for it though, some simply just crumble it in their hands under a running tap. I have tried both ways and because it is quite a soft product I’ve had the best results from the sieve, I find letting it just crumble doesn’t get the most out of it bubble wise, you tend to waste quite a bit, finding pieces of it at the bottom of your tub once you get in.

In regards to Sparkly Pumpkins scent, I expected it to be jam packed with all things pumpkin, it however isn’t. Strangely, the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar actually contains juniper berry, lime and grapefruit oils. This unique blend of essential oils makes the Sparkly Pumpkins scent a woody and gentle citrus blend, I find a soak in a Sparkly Pumpkin bath leaves me feeling both soothed and uplifted. If you favour the products with a more subtle scent then Sparkly Pumpkin would be a great one for you.

I know some people want to run a mile when they see a shimmery Lush product but being honest as always, the sparkling products really aren’t that troublesome. I get a little tired of explaining this in all of my sparkly product reviews but as someone who once too feared anything glittery, I can’t help but mention it. I have been converted and now love a sparkly Lush product. The shimmer just rinses away, I always describe it as cosmetic shimmer, kind of like what you get in make-up such as some bronzers and highlighters.

A Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bath leaves your skin silky-smooth and well nourished. Its scent unfortunately doesn’t hang around on your skin for very long but it does last throughout the bath.

Sparkly Pumpkin isn’t one of my favourite bubble bars purely because I find it a little boring, I do however like to pair it with a bath bomb. Last year my favourite Lush cocktail that contained Sparkly Pumpkin was it, mixed with the Pumpkin bath bomb. This year the Christmas Sweater bath bomb was however introduced to the winter line and  that works with Sparkly Pumpkin perfectly too.

Hollywood Bubble Bar from Lush

Hollywood Bubble Bar.pngI love it when a Lush product that I have never heard of before appears on the Lush Kitchen menu. I can’t and don’t always order these rarities but when I see the Hollywood Bubble Bar, I just couldn’t resist.

Stars are my all time favourite shape. This is why the Twilight bath bomb was my very first. The Hollywood bubble bar is a cream coloured bubble bar decorated with one, perfectly shaped gold star.

Size wise, Hollywood is a medium sized bubble bar, large being the size of a The Brightside bubble bar, medium being Ladybird bubble bar sized.

Some have described it as quite plain. I agree, it is plain but sometimes less is more, especially when it comes down to Lush Cosmetics!

The Hollywood bubble bar has a seductively floral, sweet scent. At first I was hesitant upon ordering it as I don’t always get on with the floral scented products.

Luckily when put in front of me, the first thing that I noticed was that its floral fragrance wasn’t too in your face, it is has subtle and likeable floral fragrance.

The jasmine and rose absolute in the Hollywood bubble bar compliment eachother perfectly. It makes for a very relaxing and refreshing bath, sinking yourself under a blanket of Hollywood bubbles is my idea of heaven on earth.

You could easily get three generously bubbled baths out of just the one Hollywood bubble bar. They may be a little smaller than I’d have liked but knowing how many baths I can spread it out in makes me feel a little bit better about it.

Packed with eugenol the Hollywood bubble bar not only smells delightful but also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, mixed with the rose and jasmine absolute Hollywood is a real treat for your skin. The rose absolute soothes your skin while the jasmine absolute helps to freshen things up.

When you get out of a Hollywood bubble bath your skin feels fabulous, it’s soft, smooth and delicately scented for several hours afterwards. It makes you look and feel like an A-list celebrity, watch out Hollywood!

The only negative I have in regards to the Hollywood bubble bar is its price. I do not usually include product prices in my reviews as they are subject to change and keeping each review up to date would be very difficult, I however think I need to mention it for the purpose of this review.

At the time of writing this review (Feb 2017) the Hollywood bubble bar was retailed by the Lush Kitchen at £5.25. For that price I honestly expected it to be a lot bigger than it was. Yes, a little of it goes a very long way I however would like a bit more product for my money. It’s the dearest Lush bubble bar I have come across of its size.

I feel as if everyone would however be in favour of bigger versions of any of the Lush bubble bars though, after all, every single one of them is gorgeous for one reason or another.

No one would ever turn down the chance of having a little bit more of something they love and for me that does include the Hollywood bubble bar.

Lovestruck Bubble Bar from Lush

lovestruck-bubble-barThe Lovestruck Bubble Bar from Lush’s 2017 Valentine’s line is most certainly a head turner. Its design is inspired by the heart-eyed iPhone emoji, (Unless you have been living under a rock) I’m sure you knew that already though…

Out of the three Valentine bubble bars of 2017, Lovestruck, Unicorn Horn and Ladybird it is unquestionably the most vibrant in colour.

Before I had read what ingredients Lovestruck had, I imagined it would be a similar scent to one of the bubble bars that were an Easter release last year, Tweet. Described as a bubble bar that is ‘refreshing and citrusy,’ I couldn’t wait to get it in the bath!

15978127_1906973322865220_7974712515144045063_n.png

The first thing I noticed about the Lovestruck  bubble bar was its size. It’s not as big as a Brightside or Comforter, but it’s quite close. If you managed to get ahold of a Down the Rabbit bubble bar last year I’d say it’s a similar size to that although to me it feels more stocky.

The next thing that I noticed was that Lovestruck’s scent was the polar opposite of what I had expected it to be. The citrus element was barely noticeable, all I could really smell was the geranium oil in it.

In a way it reminded me of the Ladybird bubble bar a little but, with a splash of bitter lemon instead of the peppermint. I really wasn’t sure on its scent but I felt the same way about the Ladybird bubble bar last year so decided to give it a go.

A little of this bubble bar goes a long way, the smallest amount created mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles, the water was also silky smooth. It left my skin soft and hydrated. Which is everything I love in a bubble bar.

The water underneath the blanket of bubbles was also a beautiful and summery yellow. Unfortunately the scent seemed to intensify as the bath ran, this is fairly normal for a bubble bar from Lush and it isn’t a bad thing, unless you do not like the bubble bars scent…

I really couldn’t get on with the scent. Everything else about the bubble bar was however, perfect. For me the scent of a Lush product is really important to me so I won’t be getting the Lovestruck bubble bar again.

I feel its scent is a lot like the Ladybird bubble bar purely because of the strength of the geranium oils scent in both. The peppermint in Ladybird seems to mask the geranium oil to a point that I can like it, the lemon in Lovestruck however doesn’t cut it in the same way for my nose.

Personally I would have liked the Lovestruck bubble bar to not be packed with geranium oil as the Ladybird bubble bar has it in already, with them being in the same range I think I’d have preferred it if two products did not share such a dominantly scented ingredient. It’s a jackpot if you like the said scent. If you don’t however get on with it, it is quite the loss.

Geranium just isn’t a Valentine’s scent to me. By all means the Ladybird and Lovestruck bubble bars are totally different. Lovestruck has lemon in it while Ladybird has peppermint, it’s just the one mutual ingredient of geranium oil that trumps me.

It’s very rare for me to dislike a Lush product but Lovestruck sadly just wasn’t for me. I am however glad I tried it as it left my skin feeling fabulous and it is a really cute bubble bar.

I’m a top Lush geek and really enjoyed getting photos of it, it photographs brilliantly and with its cute and wacky, bold colours I can still see it being very popular for those that don’t mind its scent.

Mumkin Bubble Bar from Lush

mumkin bubble bar

The Mumkin Bubble Bar is hands down one of the cutest Lush products to date. It was last available in the Lush Kitchen back in March and before that December 2015. The Mumkin bubble bar pictured above is the one I ordered back in December last year. I am obviously very behind on my product reviews as it is now May 2016, Sorry! My excuse is that you can’t rush perfection. *wink, wink!*

To be completely honest with you all, I am literally so overwhelmed by all of the amazing Lush products that have been available over the last 18 or so months, I just simply can’t keep up.

13220811_1788069881422232_3610358370230508340_n

The first question that springs to mind when people first come across a Mumkin bubble bar is ‘What’s it supposed to be?’ I talk a lot in my sleep and last night I apparently told my fiancé that a ‘Mumkin is like a pumpkin but nice.’ .Hearing that, I couldn’t help but want to do my Mumkin bubble bar review today. It was obviously meant to be.

A Mumkin isn’t anything like what I described while asleep. Lush in fact describe it as an unknown, friendly, cute and curious creature. With its big brown, dairy-free chocolate chip eyes how can you resist? Decorated with a yellow star on its deep pink head, a green leaf and a marshmallow-like stalk, the Mumkin bubble bar is more than unique.

In a way I get a little sad when Lush make their products into little creatures, it’s easy to break up and work your way through a bubble bar such as the Brightside one. When the bubble bar has eyes however, my inner child wakes up and doesn’t want to mash him up at all, ‘Mum, can we keep him?’

My inner child soon disappeared when I first smelt the Mumkin bubble bar, I didn’t care that it had eyes I just had to get it into the bath!

MUMKIN REAL

The Mumkin bubble bar has a floral bergamot and gentle raspberry scent. I can’t actually think of another Lush product that even has a similar scent. On paper the Mumkin bubble bar sounds as if it would be very similar to the Rose Jam scent, it is however nothing like Rose Jam. Mumkin has a soft zest that mixes perfectly with its ingredients. Bergamot, Sicilian lemon and violet leaf oils blend so beautifully together, I can only hope that Lush use the Mumkin’s scent in future alternative products such as a Mumkin shower gel, solid shampoo bar or even a bath bomb.

mumkinreal2

The Mumkin bubble bar creates copious amounts of silky-smooth bubbles, its unique aroma gently, intensifies as the bubbles multiply. Buried underneath the canopy of the fluffy white bubbles you will find warming-orange-tinted water. I always use a sieve for my bubble bars as unfortunately I don’t have a mixed tap. I have the choice of a scolding hot tap or a freezing cold one.

In the sieve I like to run it under the hot tap as I feel that makes the most bubbles. I however find that not all bubble bars work in the same way. Some work best in a sieve if crumbled up (as above) where as others work better in a sieve in chunks. In regards to the Mumkin bubble bar, after much trial and error I’d probably advise you to sieve it in chunks. I found that crumbling it up weakened its beautiful scent somewhat.

13221681_1788066874755866_8274762313331653753_n

As for the Mumkin’s bubble bars ability to freshen up my tired and often dehydrated skin, I wholeheartedly recommend it. Not only is my skin soft and hydrated, it also feels refreshed and ready to face the rest of the day.

I really hope that Lush Cosmetics use the Mumkin’s scent in alternative future products, ever since I first tried the Mumkin bubble bar I haven’t been able to stop eating raspberries. I fear that if I don’t stop eating them soon I will turn into a Mumkin!
